I am just being curious on those of you that own pets, and what , if any, services do you have on hand, strictly concerning your pets. Such as, dog walking, pet sitters, poop patrol and clean up, etc.. Other than having a veterinarian and/or groomer, I am just being curious on what is out there, and/ or what is needed. Thanks for any and all input on this subject.
Ladies, I appreciate your information. I am professional dog trainer, and I have been out of the loop, so to speak, and I am going to start my own pet service, and just wanted to know what was going on out there. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats,of my own right now. I am sure there will be more to come. I also am a "foster home" for rescued animals, through a rescue group, when needed. I basically just wanted to know, how many of us, pet owners, use outside services, and for what. I know I am going to offer "pet sitting", dog walking, poop scooper service, and perhaps pet transport, especially for the elderly. Thanks again, for your input. J.
I have 3 huskies and a cat. We use a poop pickup service and a dog food delivery service. The food is all natural and my dogs love it. It's called Nature's Select, and Pauls Pet Food delivers it to me (in Wauconda). We use Dog's Yard out of Round Lake for poop pick up. I dog sit regularly if you're ever looking.

I take my Shiba Inu to doggie day care once a week. I also kennel him at the same place. It is a cage free/collar free except when eating and sleeping. They have a pick up and drop off service if you needed it, you can watch the dogs on web cam.

We have a yellow lab. We use a vet, a groomer and a poop patrol service - we have the poop patrol service b/c it's my husband's job to pick up the dog poop! If I could find a good walker I would use one of those in the winter months - I run outside the rest of the year and take the dog with me before the kids wake up - in the winter he gets less excercise than I'd like. I have two yorkies and we use a groomer but that is all. The good thing with Yorkies is a walk around the block is all they need. They are trained not to go potty during the day but for emergencies, I leave a potty pad out. Only one of our yorkies uses it if he really needs to. The other waits it out.
Besides a vet, you don't need much else. You can do it all yourself but if you're short on time and don't want to worry about bathing/grooming your dog, get a groomer. There are doggy daycares (around $15-20 a day), walkers, therapists and so on. The bigger the dog you get, the more $$ it is for food, grooming, vet bills ,etc.

We have 2 German Shepherds and we have a vet and groomer as you mentioned and also a woman that will take our dogs when we go out of town. I looked into poop patrol and instead we fenced in an area for them to go to make it easier to pick up. We don't really walk them that often as we play ball with them in the back yard or they chase each other for exercise. I know Cesar Millan (Dog Whisperer) would not agree with this thinking, but it works for our dogs. Lol.

We have a 14 month old and a cat. The cat was my husbands before we met. She prefers him over me and pretty much avoids the baby. The baby however is absolutely enchanted by the cat and will toddle after at ever chance. Cats are low maintainance, a good pet for a 10 year old. Simple responsibilities like feeding, watering and scooping the box daily. I recommend looking at breeds and then looking up that specific breed rescue center in your area. Something loving and wanting to be petted and held, makes up for having to take care of the unpleasant chores if the cat is a lover and a pleasure to have. Also something low on the grooming scale. My personal favorites Maine Coon and Ragdoll. Both are fluffy, friendly and loveable as breeds and don't need daily grooming. I hope this helps.
