I had Hellp with my daughter. She was born 5 weeks early @ 5lbs 3 oz, I was almost 30. But, I did not have a second child for a couple of reasons; we were happy with a healthy well adjusted child, and I was afraid of being an older mom. Good luck! My doctor told me that it wouldn't be a problem; but we were good as a family of 3.

I have not experienced it but my girlfriend had it with all four pregnancies.

I hope you will see a high risk ob during your pregnancy.

Dr. Viscarello in Stamford is a GENIUS and I cannot recommend him enough. He is the only reason I have my two boys.

Good luck to you!

A very close friend of mine (who's quite happy for me to pass on her story!) had Hellp with her first pregnancy, was very unwell, had an emergency c-section and her first daughter was premature, though now (age 8) very healthy. Her second pregnancy was of course very closely monitored, but everything went fine. The baby went to full term and was born normally/vaginally - a successful VBAC. There were no problems and the child (now aged 5) is completely healthy. So it's quite possible for everything to go well a second time around and not even need another c-section. Good luck!

I had hellp with my first pregnency and was on bed rest for 5 1/2 weeks dilivering at 36 1/2 weeks. On my second pregnancy they monetered my but I developed sever preeclampica at 35 weeks resulting in imedate dilevery. I am 36 1/2 weeks into my 3rd pregnancy and was hosplised at 32 weeks because of suspected hellp so i have been on bed rest but everything has leveled itself out. You just dont know what way it will go,and due to you first pregnancy your OB should moneter you well doing reglar blood tests and hopefuly you wont grt it this time.

i have a friend who's first daughter was born early (at 1lb 13oz) due to HELLP and is currently pregnant with a second child due in may-not planned :). she is being monitored closely, but all is well so far. does your OBGYN gives you the go-ahead? you could also consult with a high risk OBGYN, usually in a maternal-fetal medicine department.

Hi J.,

I'm C.. I developed HELP syndrome with my first pregnancy and lost my baby girl when I was 8 months pregnant. It was devastating and the worst thing I have ever went through. 4 months later i was pregnant for the 2nd time and had a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful healthy boy. He just turned 3 on 2/28. Best of luck.
