My 13 month old son Branden has figured out that he can climb out of his highchair onto the table, and boy is he quick! I am wondering if it is time for a booster seat or just keep trying to get him to sit down for meals in his highchair. We never used a booster with my older son, so I'm at a loss with this one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So What Happened?

Well, I went to Walmart and bought a $10 booster seat, and so far so good, but I HAVE to use the straps! Little wiggle worm! Thanks for all the advice ladies, I think this solved the problem! Have a great day!

I must say I do not have this problem with my son, he is almost 13 months. But my highchair wont allow him to even move that much. Are there straps on the chair to hold him in? Although I do not use them on my highchair, there are actual shoulder harnests to prevent climbing out. I have used a booster seat when I am away from home and my son does well in it, but I do strap him in.
Wish you luck?

Hi K.-

My daughter is also 13 months old and did the same thing. I bought a booster and it did help. She does not sit long before she wants down, but she can't escape as long as I do the buckle.

Good Luck!

Hi there! I have a 4 1/2 yr old boy and we hardly ever use the highchair with him. What I did use when we were sitting at the table to eat was a seat that hook right to the table. he felt like one of us and quit the struggling at meal time as he was sitting right up at the table with everyone else. It was just a seat with four metal poles that tick out to make it hook to the table. Some restuarabts even have them. I dont remember what they are called. I got mine at a second hand store (they have alot of them) and used it alot. he felt like a big boy!! hope this helps

I ran into this same problem a few months ago with my son. Who was 15 months at the time. I found it more productive for eating to put him in a booster seat. We also have barstools and he loves to sit at the bar and eat without a booster seat. The trick is going to be if he will stay in the booster seat, might need the buckles. Good luck.
