Is there anything that does not make you sick? Try saltines with salt, that helped me a little.

The nausea is usually a sign of hunger believe it or not. My doctor recommended protein and it worked for me. So smear a little peanut butter on those saltines! I also recommend eggs in the morning.

Good luck to you!

T.,

There are a lot of different remedies for morning sickness, and some work better for some people than others. Here's a list of some I've tried or seen others use:

1. Saltines before you get up
2. Preggie Pop lollipops (find them online)
3. Small, frequent meals
4. Sea Bands (like for motion sickness)
5. Sniffing a lemon when the wave of nausea hits

How severe is your morning sickness, and how far a long are you? If you are vomiting actively a number of times a day, and have passed the first trimester mark, it is time to speak to your doctor. There is a condition called hyperemesis, which is pretty much uncontrolled vomiting. This does not go away after the first tri, and cancause some pretty big problems. It will cause serious dehydration, which can lead to preterm delivery, and because you can';t hold anything down, it affects the baby's quality of nutrition. Hyperemesis doesn't happen to many, but it's serious when it does, so if you're concerned, talk with your OB.

Best of luck. I was sick with this one every day for seven stinking weeks. It will get better.

Hi T., Try to figure out how often you feel sick. During both my pregnancies it was every 2 hrs. So I made sure to eat every 1 1/2 hr. Try to eat small amounts-1/2 an apple or 1/4 of a sandwich or a container of choc. milk, a handful of pretzels. I began to notice that I would burp if I was hungry and cough when I was full. Try to pay attention to what your body tells you. After the 4 month mark, I tried to stretch the time between meals. If the baby gets used to eating that often, they will expect the same when they are born. My kids were both small 5 8 & 6 7. They both continued that eating pattern until they were 5 months old. Try to nap when your 2 yr. old does. I know it is hard but the dirt in the house will wait until you are ready to deal with it. Hope this helps. Good Luck & Congratulations.

Hi T.,
Sorry to hear that you are having morning sickness. I had horrible morning sickness with my daughter. It got so bad that I couldn't keep anything down, including water. I don't know how servere your morning sickness is, but I could barely do anything because I was so sick. Finally, I talked to my Doctor and he prescribed a medication that would help with the morning sickness. It was an amazing medication that made my pregnancy much more enjoyable and it was safe to take during pregnancy. Hope this helps.

Peppermint candy (candy canes, etc.) and deep breaths really helped me! I know my cousin swears by the Sea Bands, also. Good luck, it will all be over soon!

I had the same problem, but I called mine the 24/7 morning sickness. I talked to my OB?GYN and was told that I could take emetrol to help with my morning sickness. I used it with both of my pregnancies. I also had to learn to eat smaller meals during the day & snacked on peanutbutter crackers to help with the morning sickness.

Oh, I feel for you! I get soooo sick too! The prego lolipop mentioned I found something like it at "Motherhood" near the registers. You could call before making a trip there.
Pepermints helped me a little. Lemon drops helped me once I started getting sick at the sight of a peppermint. Eat very very small meals and try to stay away from greasy foods. The cracker idea works well, and Ginger is suppose to help too. My friend would eat ginger snap cookies or you could try ginger tea. Many of my friends told me that if they didn't eat very small snacks, then the sickness would creep up on them. I hope you feel better soon :)

I also had great luck eating a few saltines before I even sat up in bed. Try keeping a small amount of food in your body all day. Overeating made me ill, and when I would go too long between meals, I would feel even worse.
Good Luck!

I feel for you girlfriend!!!! I tried everything and I'm sure anything I tell you, you have already tried! Nothing helped me. I threw up all day, driving in the car........the side of the road numerous times. It did subside in the middle of my 5th month. Small meals/snacks, ginger ale, crackers!
Good luck!

Hi T.,

Like Rainee I also had to go on medication during my pregnancy with my second son. Before that I tried Sea Bands. They are little wristbands with a knobby plastic bump on the inside that sits on the pressure points on your inner wrist (the carpals). Pro, they are only about $10; con, they only serve to take the edge off if the nausea is severe and long lasting. I say if you're really getting your butt kicked tell your OB to give you nausea medication. Both me and my sister needed it and our OB (we share the same one) said it's safe for the baby. If you do choose this route, just make sure you tell your OB how sick you really are, or he/she just might try to tell you that it'll pass and to use a more homeopathic remedy. I'll tell you if I'd know during the first four-and-a-half months that there was medication I could've taken for sickness I would've, in a heartbeat! Instead I went through all the other suggestions (small meals, citrus products, Sea Bands, saltines, etc. etc.) and they did nothing or close to nothing.

Good luck and just remember that if you can't get rid of your "morning" sickness right now, eventually you will have the baby so it has to stop sometime.

Keep smiling,

M.

Our doctors recommend extra vitamin b. Thr "preggie pops" are usually found at babies r us near the nursing stuff. My mother told me to eat a saltine or two before even getting out of bed. If the nausea and vomiting gets extreme and you start to lose weight your doctor can give you something called Zofran. It won't hurt the baby and you can take it as long as you need to.
