My daughter is turning 2 October 6th. I have NO idea what I'm going to do, and I'm quickly running out of time. Last year her first birthday was spent at a nice park, I don't think I want to do that again. I told my husband that I had an idea to get a bunch of little tables (kiddy height) and have each table be a different activity at our house. He said no to that idea. He threw out going to McDonalds but I really really really don't want to do that. I am not fond of Chuck-E-Cheese or Incredible Pizza for her birthday either. I know I'm probably being just super picky and I should have started planning A LONG time ago.
Please help!! Has anyone gone to Old McDonalds Farm for a birthday? Does anyone know of a place like 'Discovery Zone' anymore?

I've heard GREAT things about the farm in Old Town Spring. The lady I know said they brought a cooler with sodas for the adults, juice boxes for the kids, and ordered pizza. There is also a new place on 1960 and Walters Rd that is like Discovery One- sorry I can't remember the name. Good luck!
We had my 2 year olds party at Kids In Action on Woodland Hills in Kingwood. Perfect venue for a 2 year old! (and any 1 and 3 year old friends as well). You get the WHOLE place ... so unlike those jumping places the big kids aren't running all over the little ones.
I have a son that's turning 2 on October 9th and I'm in the same boat you are. I've been to Old McDonald with Daniel during the week and it was actually fun, it's $7 per person, even for babies, but I think they have group discounts for birthdays. I think Daniel would have enjoyed it better if he had other babies he knew to play with but he still enjoyed the train ride.
The best I can come up with is having just a hand full of children at our home for some cake and some entrees. Maybe for a couple of hours, since he would be fussy if it was an all day event.

P.S. Those deer in the petting zoo actually bit the kids if they know you have food.
I had a bouncy castle in our backyard and a pinata for my little girl's second b-day paerty in May. I also know of a couple of bouncy centers in the Humble/Atas area. Let me know if you need the names. I have been to Old McDonald's farm, but I think it is a bit big for a two year old - we went in March (Kendall was 22 mos. She had fun, but was only interested in a few things.

At 2 it's hard. We are having just some family at McD's for our 2y/o going on 3 b/c her b-day is actually on THanksgiving this year. My son turning 9y/o is having at Chuck E Cheese b/c they finally made a new one by our house. My other DD turning 4 y/o makes it at a farmer out SA. But we have had parties at bowling alleys, Museums, Malibu, the Zoo, Peter Piper Pizza and the park. My all time favortive was at the Witte Museum in San Antonio.
I miss Discovery Zone. If I ever win the lotto I'l atart it up again... promise.

I rented a moonwalk/slide for my son's 2nd birthday. It's especially good if you have kids of all ages coming (cousins, etc). The kid's absolutely loved it! The adults did, too because we set it up in the backyard, while we enjoyed relaxing in our chairs, the kids burned off their energy! There is "The Jumping Party" on Louetta and N.Eldridge that is very clean. Hope this helps!
I don't know what it costs but there is always the Children's Museum downtown. I havent had a party there but I have watched. They have something for everyone there, even the parent's enjoy it. However, at age 2 her friends are not going to want to do anything but play. I would suggest having a HUGE play date at home and word your invitation as a "mommy and me" party(otherwise, parents may expect to drop kids off and feel free to leave), coffee and simple snacks for parents and that way they help watch kids while everyone visits and gets to know each other. Then everyone can have cake and watch open presents after about an hour or so. YOu can then tell parents that you have a later commitment but they can stay for a while and visit. Then everyone can decide when they want to leave(but I would set a time that everyone needs to leave by or they may take you literally). I didn't usually plan anything at a specific place until my kids were around 4 or 5. They don't get too much of the birthday concept until around that age.

We did Old Mac Donalds Farm for my sons 5th birthday, and the kids had a great time. The way we handled it was we paid for all the kids, adults paid for themselves. They gave us a covered pavillion and animal feed for the kids. It was really nice.
For my sons 2nd birthday we had Twinkles the clown from Funtastic Funtimes and Parties. She was VERY kid friendly and managed the whole party. When she was done we served cake, opened presents and we were done. My son loved her so much we had her back for his 3rd and his cousins had her the next year for their party. They are the only clowns I would recommend, as my sister got a clown who scared the kids and told jokes more suited for adults.
