T.S.
I agree about getting a stool softener. That will help to make you more comfortable and may ease some of the fear you have about using the bathroom after giving birth. Good luck!

i always take a tylenol pm when i am pregnant to help me sleep. Also ask your dr. about using a stool softener. I always use them after i have the baby to help with the hemorrhoids. Sometimes labor creates hemorrhoids because of the pushing. That's just part of life after having a baby. I usually use a stool softener until they heal. Usually a few months.
try Epsom Salts in a bath. Of course, not too deep a bath since some docs say NO to soaking in a tub for too long.. but the Epsom salts can work magic..
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I used witch hazel. I soaked a cotton ball and applied to the area every time I used the bathroom and this helped a lot.
Good luck with the labor and the hemorrhoids.
ask your doc first about the prep h and if its okay get the suppositories and put them in the fridge or freezer before you use them. the coolness really helps. i also keep the tucks in the fridge, having them cold is sooooo soothing!
If you are constipated you need to get some stool softener and use them faithfully. (The brand name is docusate but don't buy them...ask your pharmacy for Docusate Sodium...same thing...about 1/5th the price!!) The straining is part of what is aggravating the existing hemorroids. Talk to you OB about this...it is a very normal issue for pregnant Moms to be dealing with. Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water as that will help the stool softner do it's job.
The preperation H will help shrink it but it can take up to at least a week for it to go away depending on how big it is. Good luck
Try the tucks pads. You probably wont notice it while you are in labor, too many other things will be going on. Make sure your ob know about it tho.
You might buy one of those donut ring things to sit on, they do take the pressure off.
I feel so sorry for you. Now you have a hemi story to tell for the rest of your life.
I didnt get mine until after my second baby, they popped out when I delivered. I get a flare up every now and then. The tucks pads help a lot.
Try to lay around and keep your feet elevated, you obviously have a lot of pressure going on down there.
Hang in.
The hemorroid will not go away. You may have flair-ups now and again. Try not too strain when having a BM. Use prep-H to ease itching and swelling. Take an epsom salt bath if you are not having any luck. Relax. After baby is born, the hemorroid may not swell and fall out. For now, you may have to push it back in. If you leave it out and do all your normal suff (walking, sitting), it will make it even more sore.
Use Tucks as someone suggested. If it hurts when you walk because of the friction on the hemerroid, put a dab of Vaseline or Eucerine Aquaphor ointment(the stuff that is like Vaseline, not the lotion) that comes in a jar. It will make it easier to get around without it hurting so much. You can, also, use the Vaseline to help gently push the hemrroid back inside the rectum if it is an internal one that is bulging out. I never had a hemeroid until I went through the pushing phase with my first child. So it may get worse, but will probably shrink back down a few weeks after delivery.
It depends on how bad it is before it goes away. I had small ones around the 7th month of my pregnancy and by the 9th they went away (I used Tucks pads, I heard PH was unsafe during pregnancy). I also heard delivery itself can cause them and make existing ones worse, so good luck!
