ok... i am so confused... i am on depo provera.... since january, no bleeding... until 3 weeks ago... light pink spotting only when i wiped, then it turned brown, went away after 2 days... since then.... i can't stand the smell of things... i was gagging over onions, the garbage... and the smell of my freezer?! i have been living off of headache medicine... like every single day... i feel dizzy when i stand... and quesy throughout the day... i threw up brushing my teeth, gagging over the taste of tooth paste... my nose randomly starts running? then im stuffed up? but i feel fine? no cold..... my breasts have gotton larger my bra is not fitting... hanging out the top side and bottom? and my areolas and getting larger? and darker? and i have veins all over my chest? and just recently i cant get enough chocolate...! for like a week now... ive also been getting up in the middle of the night at least twice to pee, and i normally sleep through the night...and i have been having sharp stabbing pains in my right side... lower back pain and menstrual like cramps for 2 weeks , constipated????????!!! which i never am... i took a pregnancy test and it was negative... i need to know if this has happened to any of you? and im supposed to get my shot today... so if i am pregnant i dont want to get it!
I had pretty pregnancy like symptoms when I was on the Depo.
Whether you are pregnant or not, I would reconsider staying on the Depo. It played havoc with me in a variety of ways. including (ironically) killing my sex drive!
Have you taken a pregnacy test because this sounds exactly how i was when i was pregnant! Either that or your hormones out of controle! Go get a quick pregnancy test and find out!!!
I'm on Depo too and have the same issues. I've only had human contact (to put it politely) three time since 2007. So it's possible that these are just side effects.
Usually the doctor will do a preg test if you ask before getting the shot.
How did you pregnancy test show it was negative? Did it show one line instead of two? Did it state postive or negative? Did it how a minus sign instead of a plus sign? If your test was a one or two line deal, or a plus or minus, I would retake the pregnancy test, but buy the kind that states the words positive or negative. It this test says negative, then you're not pregnant and it's the meds that are giving you the symptoms.
When I was pregnant, I had a postive pregnancy test, but I had an extra one in the box. For some stupid reason, after the doctor's appointment where they took blood to test for pregnancy, I peed on my other test. It came back negative. I was devastated. It was a one or two line test. When I REALLY looked at it closely, I realized that the line that was showing was the pregnancy line. The test line didn't come up. I was thoroughly confused. When my blood work came back, it turned out I had a HUGE level of HCGs--so high my OB wanted me to have an u/s to see if I had twins (I didn't). The only think I could think of was that I was drinking so much water, it watered down my urine so much that the test didn't recognize the pee, but the HCGs were so high that they still registered. Does this make sense? I think this wouldn't happen with a test that had word results.
Explain all this to the doc and ask for a blood test to see if you are pregnant before getting the next injection.
Two of my pregnancies were initially false tests (so to speak). Make sure you mention this to your doc who will probably do another test.
I was on this once years ago. If I'm not mistaken it puts your body in a state of pregnancy which would explain your symptoms. Only thing I remember was I stopped getting my period altogher and was very emotional. If you have been getting the shots regularly I don't see how you could be pregnant but speak to your doctor only he/she knows.
Ha! I hade a false negative pregnancy test this week! Luckily I bought a two pack because I was about to just go about my business and then two days later I took the other one, its positive and I am pregnant. I have all the symptoms you described.
I would definitely tell your health care provider of what is going on before you get your shot. I would think they can do a blood test to definitively rule out pregnancy before they give you the shot.

You sound VERY pregnant! If this is in fact the by-product of the depo provera, then you should seriously reconsider your choice of birth control. Of course I say talk to your dr TODAY...I'm guessing you are pregnant.

Yep! Depo-provera is designed to make your body think that it is pregnant, hence the pregnancy symptoms you're experiencing. Happened to me too. If you took a test, and it was negative, I'm sure you are not pregnant. I'd say talk to your health care provider, and let your concerns be known, and you two can come up with a solution to the problem you are facing. Ah, the things we go through to avoid stress, and it ends up giving us more stress! Gotta love life:)

it takes 2 weeks after you concieve for the urine pregnancy test to show positive. I had 2 neg before almost 2 weeks late for my period I got the positive.
You really need to take a few more tests.. and possibly call your doctor.... you might be pregnant... those are the EXACT symptoms i had with both of my kids. and I was on nuvaRing with the first baby, and on the Loestrin pill with the second...
I don't trust HPTs one bit. I had a false POSITIVE on one of the fancy digital ones -- it said PREGNANT and I wasn't. I went to the ER thinking I was miscarrying when it was my period. They told me, "Well, someone has to be the 1% in the 99% accurate." Get the real test done at the doctor's office for a confident result.
Hun - Sounds like you Are in fact - Preggo :-) I say go the dr's have them give you a test - and Just to be in the safe side, dont get the shot for another month! Congrats! lol blessings !
