Help! I Need a Double Stroller and I'm a Walker/runner - Which One(s)??

I'm due with my second baby in February. I have a single BOB Ironman stroller which I like a lot because of how easy it is to run with. I'm an avid walker and runner and I'm completely at a loss as to which stroller(s) I should buy. I get by just fine with the BOB and a little umbrella stroller now and I'd like to only have to buy one more double jogging stroller and not spend an arm and a leg. Is that possible? Do any of you use a double jogger for Zoo trips, the mall ,etc? The double strollers look very cumbersome, is this the case? Are there any of you out there who don't even use your double jogger/stroller because of how big it is? TIA :)

What can I do next?

I know I am seeing and answering your question late, but I have a single BOB Revolution and am absolutely in love with it! I see you are near Milwaukee and I know you could sell your single for a great price on Craigslist and put that money toward the double stroller. Also, please feel free to email me as I know a great place to buy a brand new BOB at a discounted price here in town. Best of luck to you!

Hi, pretty sure we have a Baby Trend Double Jogger from Babies R Us. It's brown and orange, they were pasing this one out for the newer version. Newer version was HUGE though. Got a great deal on it and it was only like $150. We also have a BOB that we bought when our first daughter was born and after our second came I couldn't see spending almost $600 just for the BOB brand name for a double. Girls do great in it and to me doesn't feel that much diff than a BOB. Still smooth when you walk/jog, only thing I notice is air pressure in tires do not hold the greatest, but I'd still rather fill the tires up every so often than spend the $600. Sunshade is not as wide as BOB and footrest is a little shorter than BOB, so my almost 3 yr olds feet hang off a bit, but most of the time she's walking now anyway and just sitting when she gets tired or wants to ride with her sister. I would just try a couple of them out. I liked the one that I got and fits through doors fairly easily!

Yes, my BOB Revolution Duallie is large but well worth the cost and size. My 3 year old and 9 month old go with me when I run (since you have an Ironman, you KNOW how awesome a BOB performs) and we use it when we're out and about for trips. The Duallie fits through standard doorways but there will be a little bit of maneuvering you'll need to do. It is similar to the width of a wheelchair and technically, stores at the mall are supposed to be set up to accommodate wheelchairs (not all of them are), so spending a lot of time in stores may be an issue.

You may be able to find a less expensive double but try to run with it before you buy it because you may find that it is inferior to what you've grown accustomed to with the BOB.

I absolutely LOVE my BOB Duallie. We bought it when my second was born and it's been well worth the money. My kids are now 4 and 2. My 4yo is tall for her age 42" and fits in it just fine. I use it daily in the summer for walks. I've also used it at the zoo, state fair, etc. We also took it on a 12 day trip to Disney World. I would have died without having it there. It turns on a dime and pushes like a dream.

It is expensive, but we bought it at REI when we got a 20% coupon. It put the BOB at a price that they were selling for used on Craigslist or eBay. It was the only way I could convince my husband to get it......knowing that if we took care of it, we could pretty much re-sell it for what we paid for it. I have to say, though, now that we have the stroller, even he thinks it's been totally worth the investment.

It is a bit big and cumbersome for getting in and out of the car. I have an Envoy XL and it just fits in the back when we are not using the 3 row seats. The only other thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't latch shut when folded. When we traveled with it, we just ended up using a bungee cord to keep it folded on the plane.

Good luck!

I love, love my double BOB. My husband is a runner and he takes our kids in it all the time. I also use it for the zoo, pool, and pretty much everywhere else EXCEPT the mall. I use my sit-n-stand for the mall. We also use our sit-n-stand for traveling because there's no way a BOB is fitting on an airplane or in the car with all our other stuff for a road trip. So, although I can't imagine life without the BOB, it really can't be your only double stroller, unless your oldest child is up for walking whenever you go to the mall, etc. when you would need a stroller for your youngest.

I have a Mountain Buggy (double Urban Jungle) and I love it. I walk a lot, and it is awesome for walking. It's VERY heavy, but it moves very well and is more narrow than it looks (fits through all doors). To me it was very important to be able to put the baby in a bassinet, and MB gives you this option. It fits well in a regular car trunk too (you may have to pop the wheels off). You can run with it, but I haven't really tested that out - it just seems too heavy. I've seen really great deals on MB online lately - they were recently bought by Phil&Ted. I used to have a BOB Ironman with my first child and I loved running with it. I think if you are fine with a regular seat for your baby, you would probably be better off with a double BOB or similar. Another option might be to get a bike carrier that can be used as a running stroller (that's what I've got).
