I don't have any advice...I just wanted to let you know that you are NOT alone...I have a 10 mo old who has NEVER slept through the night! So I am hoping you get some great advice that I can use, too! :)

My advice is to feed her if she's hungry. She may be in a growth spurt, she may be teething, there are a myriad of things that could be causing her to want substance and/or sucking.

You can also try looking at "the no cry sleep solution". It has great, gentle tips for getting babies to learn to self soothe.

FWIW, my daughter nursed every hour on the hour until she was 15 months. Some kids just need to eat often.

Don't feed her. I know that sounds harsh but it's true. I went through the same thing with my son. When I took him to his 6 month checkup the doctor told me that he did not need to be fed at night, so I stopped. It took two nights of battle, the first night I gave in after several hours, the second night he gave in and went back to sleep without eating. And on the third night I didn't hear a peep out of him. Guess he realized it wasn't worth all the effort. :) Hang in there, you'll get through this.

BTW... In order to mentally assure myself that I wasn't starving the poor child I gave him a bottle before bed. That way I knew I had filled him up the best I could.

I know it's not much help, but believe me, you're not alone :) AND, it won't last forever ;) My son did the same thing till he was 10 mo. old. I tried everything...Tylenol, as he might be teething, Orajel, Pick up/Put down method, crying it out (as a last resort for us)(that killed me and didn't last long before I gave in)...I guess I just held on thru it all and all the lost sleep and he eventually grew out of it...some do earlier, some do later....just know that there's lots of support out there for us sleepless moms! ;) My son eventually grew out of it, however, the No Cry Solution gave me some good ideas and their method was really working for us...He began to start sleeping for longer spurts and eventually thru the night...He's back to waking about once a night, and he's 21 mo. but that's just fine with me! Just hang in there as it won't go on forever :)

i have a 4 and 1/2 month old daughter and she now sleeps through the night thanks to a new mobil...it's the kind that projects a light show on the ceiling and it lasts for 8 minutes. she woke up one night and kicked it and happened to hit the button to turn it on and now when she wakes up she turns it on and falls back asleep watching it, all we have to deal with is hearing the music. it is a real lifesaver for us. i hope this can help someone else too.

Is she eating food yet? My son started doing that at around 6 months and as soon as he started eating he slept through the night. If she is eating already perhaps she needs to move to stage 2. Also my oldest would get restless in his sleep for a week or so and then a tooth would apear. Perhaps some tylenol would help. Make sure she eats at least 2 times in the day and that could help. She may just be going through a growth spurt and need that extra bottle at night for right now. Hope this helps. ~V.

Hello my daughter was like this until she turned 1. It was horrible. My son however only wakes up once. He is almost 6 months and I still feed him. My only advice is give your daughter just water. When she realizes she isn't getting formula she may just give up on it. This didn't work for my daughter but it did work for my sisters child. Is it also possible that she is teething and waking up from that? Maybe some orajel or tylenol before bed will help. Good luck

How long do you let her CIO? It is more likely because it is habit that she is waking, not because she is hungry. I would feed my son a bottle with cereal in it before bed to keep him full longer. When I decided to stop feeding him at night, it took about 3 nights for him to stop waking up. He would cry for awhile then go back to sleep. Try a paci or a blanket. Now my son is attached to his blanket and cant sleep without it. Good luck!
