Help! Need Affordable Gift Ideas for Group of 9 Aunts and Uncles?

My husband has 9 aunts and uncles that bring a gift for our daughter to our Christmas party every year. The adults don't exchange gifts, but my sister-in-law and I always get them small gifts in return as a courtesy. We've done framed pictures of the kids, baked goods, and ornaments in years past. This year I just can't decide what to do. Any new ideas would be appreciated!

have her make book marks - she decorates book mark sized pieces of paper, you glue on a pic of her then write the year and her name on them and some saying about enjoying a good read just like she does then go get them laminated. I still have mine from my nephew 12 yrs ago!!

One small idea is $5 scratch off cards (you can get anywhere lottery tickets are sold). I don't know anyone that doesn't want the chance to win some money. Good luck.

Hi Deanna, You have had a lot of great ideas already but I thought I would throw one more on your list. A No-Sew Fleece Tie Blanket! They are very easy and inexpensive to make. If you don't know what they are the have two pieces of Fleece...One side with a design(Christmas or other) and other side just a plain color...You cut the edges and tie together! You can google and there are many sites for step by step instructions. They are great for everyone. My husbands Great Aunt made them for all of us a few years ago and they are personal, usable, and look nice. She made my husband one with a Fishing design and he loves it! Great for all!
GOOD LUCK and Happy Holidays! S.

It gets harder and harder every year to buy gifts for so many people. We do a chinsese gift exchange for the adults. It is loads of fun and everyone gets to open a present. everyone brings a gift at a set value , ours is $25.00. wrapped. put in the middle. everyone picks numbers. so say i have One... i can only pick from the middle. then person #2 can steal that or choose from the middle. the 3rd has a choice from the 1st two opened or the middle.... etc...there are rules so you can google it for details.... but its a fun tradition

I bought terracota pots at Michael's for ~ $1.99 each, a container of tiny colored glass beads for ~ $2.99, and ceramic glue. Then I went to Home Depot and bought some tile and colored grout. My 6 year old and I broke the tile, glued them on the pot, put grout around the gaps, placed glass beads around the tile while the grout was still wet and successfully made a beautiful "cheap" homemade flower pot! We have plans on putting moss inside the pot along with a bag of seeds for them to plant in the pot.

This year I have decided to make family calendars for a few different family groups. For my parents and my in-laws, I am making calendars with pictures of all of their grandkids (mine and my sister's for my parents, mine and my hubby's sister's for his parents.) I am also doing the same with my hubby's college-aged cousins--making calendars of their families for them to take with back with them after the winter break. There are many options available on Snapfish.com ranging from $10 to $27 dollars.

For my hubby's aunts and uncles I have assembled goody baskets similar to what another poster has described. Mine are a bit more costly, as I bought $15 beverage tubs to serve as the baskets, and included some wine, but it's generally the same idea. The decorations for the baskets were VERY cheap...Dollar Tree purchases at a cost of about $2.50 per gift. HTH

hello Deanna,
If the aunts and uncles are from my era, they might still like to send thank you notes or hand write a letter, so, stationary would be a nice gift, writing pads to keep messages or reminders on...puzzles to idle away the hours...special teas and cappacino drinks, even some liquors like Baileys for their coffee, nice smelling liquid hand soap or air freshner, a big hit is always some scratch off lottery tickets or a gift certificate to Denny's...I love Denny's...hope that helped you out a bit. Merry Christmas, Love Jo

since the small gifts are supposedly from your 5 year old daughter, perhaps there is a child's craft that she could make? maybe some type of tree ornament using her school picture or a christmas photo? I know that they have those small water globes that you can insert a photo in. It would be appropriate to give them all the same thing.

I made Christmas decorations this year that were a big hit with all and they were less than $3 a piece. I bought clear hurricane lamps and sponge painted them white. Then I painted on a face on the top and mittens in the middle and cut a piece of fleece for the top and made a stocking cap...super cute and a huge hit.
For my sons teachers at school I bought a yard of cute fleece from walmart and made scarves. You cut the fleece to width and length, then you cut two to four inch slits at either end and tie 2 of them together for a finished look at the end...very cheap, useful, cute, and warm.

Good Luck!

Every year I struggle with this one. I have 8 cousins that I am obligated to buy for
This year I bought really beautiful dish towels at discount stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc. They were in packages of 3,4, or 5. I broke down the packages so each household would get two. I then bought some nice teas and broke them down so that each family would get several packages of different flavored teas (also purchased at Ross). You could use fancy cocoas or coffees too. I used one of the towels to wrap the other towel and the tea in. I used cloth ribbon, as a bit of an extravagance on a very cost effective gift. I made 10 of these for about $30.

I have also made donations to Toys for Tots and given my cousins a nice note that said a donation to Toys for Tots were made in lieu of a gift. This actually went over very well.

Merry Christmas!

We've done fridge magnets with pics of the kids. You can get cheap magnet frames designed for this purpose at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

Family calendars are great...A mug with an updated picture of your daughter. Everyone drinks, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Or Bath and Body works as everyone uses hand soap or the plug-in air freshners. Good quality but affordable for all of those aunts ;) Best wishes and Merry Christmas!

What about gift cards to restaurant.com or places you know they like to go eat? Restaurant.com would allow them to take your small purchase and use it to get a larger gift card for a nice evening out.
Could you and SIL go in on something together? What about having your kids make something special to give?

Something that I have wanted to do (but haven't gotten around to yet) is make a family calendar that has all the families birthdays and anniversaries on it. My husband comes from a family of 15 kids, and his mother now has 29 grandkids, so you can imagine trying to remember all of those birthdays every month!!

I love the lottery ticket idea! I have done this before for the people who have everything! I buy different game tickets and create a personal note / computer generated card. Insert a penny for easy scratching of the cards. It is the thought that counts, and maybe you will have a winner to celebrate!

My child brought me gift yesterday that I thought was a very cute idea! They measured all the dried ingredients for mm cookies in a mason jar with Christmas cloth on top of the jar. It's very cute. Flour was on the bottom then brown sugar, white sugar, oatmeal, chocolate chips, and mm's. The recipe on the jar said to put 1/4 cup butter and 2 eggs and the ingredient in the jar.
