HELP! Need Unique/special Christmas Gift Idea for God Daughter Who Is 1 - Batavia,IL

A.: Why not start a charm bracelet or buy her her first pair of pearl earrings? My husband and I were at a loss what to buy both of our girls on their first Christmas. We bought them each pair of pearl earrings and the grandparents bought their charm bracelet and first charm. Both are tucked away in the safety deposit box until they are old enough to appreciate/take care of the jewelry. Over the years we have added to the charm bracelet marking special life events and activities.

I do know of something unique, but the downside is you would not be able to get it this Christmas. There's a wonderful woman in Downers Grove, IL who makes ceramic snowmen in 2 sizes and ceramic pumpkins in a variety of sizes. The unique part is that the child's name is carved into the piece. On the pumpkin, the name is where the mouth would be and on the snowmen, it's in the fattest part of the tummy. They light up as well, so they could be wonderful additions to the child's room or family room. Price range is $35-$80 depending on size. She has a website, though I don't feel it showcases what she can do very well. I would suggest emailing her and asking for sample photos if you are interested. Look for a hand mold set for ages 1-5, where for each year on her birthday she presses her hand into the mold and has a keepsake of her growth.

My girlfrind made my daughter a bracelet when sh ewas born it was great and then I had her make one for my niece since she is my sons godmother. She also made my daughter a pacifier holder ( she calls them binkneads) that clip on thier clothes, after she dome with it, I sent it to her and she made it into a bracelet.
