I loved Lorie M’s response. I whole-heartedly agree that teaching your son about death and the hope of eternal life is vitally important. If you don’t have a personal relationship with God, and wonder what that means, I’d be happy to tell you about the difference Jesus has made in my life. Feel free to send me a message and we can chat privately.
While I would not anoint my son or home, I would pray. God still works miracles – many of us are just too world-weary to notice. Sometimes people say, “All we can do is pray,” but we must remember the most powerful thing we can do is pray! Call on God, the authority over all. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
God is the solution. He may lead you to excellent medical professionals, and I pray that He does, but remember that He provided those doctors with their talents. “Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:5
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
When I pray, I often personalize scripture. Here is a passage I hope you find encouraging. “I praise You, LORD, the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. You will not grow tired or weary. You give me strength when I am weary and increase my power when I am weak. Because my hope is in You, LORD, You will renew my strength. I will soar on wings like eagles; I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
I understand your fear and encourage you to trust in the Lord. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
I also offer these encouraging words from God, our Father.
“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2
“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” In Psalm 32:8
“I will provide their needs before they ask. I will help them while they are still asking for help.” Isaiah 65:24
I pray that you will find support at a Bible-believing church where other Christians can stand with you as you walk this difficult road.
Know that I am lifting your family up to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, praying that you will dwell in the shelter of God, the Most High, so you will rest in the shadow of Him, the Almighty. So you may say of Him, O LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91: 1-2
