Help to Get 5 Month Old Napping in Her Bed

My 5 month old baby girl sleeps well at night in her bed but still naps in her swing or car seat. She takes long naps, usually 2-3 hours. I need to get her sleeping in her crib during the day but I'm not sure how to do that. With my son, I rocked him until he was sleepy and then put him in his bed and that worked great. My daughter does not like to be rocked though, so that makes it difficult. I've tried moving her from her swing to her bed when she was sleepy but that back fired. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Why does it matter where she takes her naps. She likes her bed at night. Enjoy the long nap times. I am old enough now to know that everything does not have to be perfect. As long as you and your family are happy it is perfect for you.
ENJOY!

Hey R.! I had the same problem! My son is now almost 5 months old but at around 3.5 months I started working with him to stop sleeping in his swing during the day. It took a week or so and for a while his naps were only an hour instead of the 2 or 3 he was taking in the swing. But first I started putting him on the sofa next to me (I think he liked knowing that I was in the same room) He slept on the sofa for about a week during the day and then I started moving him into his room. It took a couple times of him waking up several times and me having to go in there and soothe him to sleep again. Now he sleeps in there like a pro! He will take two, two hour naps during the day. So in short I guess I just eased him into it in steps-I'd let him get sleepy in the swing then move him to the sofa and sit with him till he fell asleep and then when he was sleeping for the full nap there I moved him to his crib in the other room and worked with him a couple times! I hope that helps a little... I'm sure it will just take some patients and several days of short naps before she gets the hang of it. Good Luck!

Put her in the crib in her carseat. That will get her used to "sleeping" in her bed and then slowly transition her. Good Luck!!

Is there a reason you dont want her in the swing? My son slept in his swing for naps until he was 13 months. We actually had to get a new motor for his swing because he burned out the 1st one in 6 months. He slept fine at night in his crib just like your daughter. I even bought a travel swing to take with me when we would go places for long times. He would sleep in a pac n play fine but I would just take it along anyways for those days he didnt want to sleep in it. Just thought I would give you the advice from a mother who let her son sleep in the swing until he outgrew it. Hope that helps.

I'd leave her in the swing until it doesn't work any more! Otherwise, get the book "The Baby Whisperer Answers All Your Questions" and use her pick-up-put-down routine.

I went through this! What I did was put my son's carseat in his crib, and then had him nap that way. After a while (like over a week), I moved him out of the carseat just into the crib. It worked well.
