Does anyone have a fabulous recommendation for a book club choice? Has anyone read the following and do you recommend any of these for a book club selection: Shelter Me by Juliette Fay; Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah; The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf. Two books that our book club has recently read and I recommend 100% are Still Alice and The Help.

What can I do next?

Some really good books that I have read for my neighborhood book club are: The Secret Life of Bees; The Time Traveler's Wife; The Wednesday Letters; World without End and Pillars of the Earth both by Ken Follett (both very long); My Sister's Keeper.

Enjoy!

One of my favorite books is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

This is a story based on the book of Hosea in the bible. It is a very good read you will not be able to put it down. Great Book.

with all those other tear jeakers i.e. time travelers wife and sisters keeper .. I would add the ..poisonwood bible and ..map of the world. for something not the norm try barara kingsolver's Animal, vegatable, miracule .. you can find her site .. it's a real eye opener. About a family that raises their own food for a year ( even their own meat) learn things like how much oil is involed with growing, fertelizing, pesticide-ing, moving our food to market ( you will be shocked) also interesting facts such as did you know... that domestcate turkey we eat for thanksgiving can no longer procreate! it's done for them because the instint to mate has been breed out of the males so they will not fight for the females! she also has recipes that go with the book so you can try new foods ... we learned to make cheese at home from this book... and are now raiseing our own chickens... she did not know these things to begin with but comes apon them in during the year BUT don't get me wrong it's not a manuel it's a great story ... if not for your book club maybe for yourself

You've gotten recommendations form other if the book's I would suggest, so I'll give an extra vote to:
Secret Life of Bees
Memory Keeper's Daughter
Time Traveler's Wife

All rich, wonderful stories. If you're looking for non-fiction, I would recommend Eat, Pray, Love.

"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards. I read it on my own rather than in a book club, but I so wanted someone to discuss it with.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Help, and I liked True Colors by Kristin Hannah, so I'm sure her other books are also good. I would also recommend Silence by Jamilah Kolocotronis.
