Ladies, please help. We are throwing a "Surprise" Fancy Nancy b-day party for my soon to be 5-year old. We are inviting her entire class, I don't know if the boys will come or not, but I like to plan earlier and make sure I have stuff, and just in case they don't rsvp and they show up. The girls will be given tiaras and feather boas, so they can be "fancy" but other than top hats for the boys, I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions? We will be painting the girls fingernails and will have tatoos for the boys, too. Any ideas on games would be helpful too. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

First let me say how jealous I am! This party is going to be SO MUCH FUN!
One game that might work for it is a "dress up race" you could have a bunch of clothes, hats and jewlery and see who can get the most on in a set amount of time.
You could do a relay with a plastic tea set and see if they can pass the loaded tray off without spilling it.
You could have a couple of tables and the kids could race to set the tables with the plastic tea set.
The boys might get into sun glasses too. They could even decorate them with stickers.
Sounds like fun.

I like the idea of bright ties for the boys. Or, you could give the boys fake mustaches, something like http://www.buycostumes.com/Mustache-Six-Way-Black/1079/Pr...

Its getting close to Halloween so maybe you could find them a local costume shop?

To dry nails quickly, did you know if you have a bowl of ice water and wiggle the just polished nails in the iced water, the nails will dry within about a minute? Some boys may want their nails polished, have some dark colors or see if you can find "Longhorn Burnt Orange". (I think they sell it at the Co-OP, call them)

Boys like active games. Be sure to have a race of some sort and mix boys and girls. Do not let them pick teams! Have their names in a bowl and call out the names to randomly make up 2 teams.

We liked to do a race where the kids have to take off their shoes and put them in a pile, mix them all up in 2 piles. Then when you yell "Go" the teams run to their pile of shoes and have to find and then put on their shoes.

Tug of war is also always good.

A Pinata filled with candy, stickers, banaides. See below for Bag idea.

Treasure hunts are fun. Hand out bags and let the kids decorate them with stickers, have them write their names on them. Make up a map and give each child the map. hide enough treasure at each location that each child can take one at each stop.

Maybe instead of tattoos for the boys you could get a friend or hire a High school student to do face painting?

We found kids are crazy about make your own sundaes.
We purchase the little ice cream cups and let them pile on toppings. Because the cups are small a few kids will eat 2.

Remember kids like just playing with each other. Have sports balls, play kitchen and other things that your kids play with outside. You do not have to have an activity at every moment.

Have fun and take tons of photos. Be sure to post them online so the other parents can order them if they want. You can also email them to Walgreens and the parents or Grandparents can see and order them from any Walgreens in the country.

sounds like fun! I did a princess party for my daugther and it the activities did not go over as well as just letting them dress up and run around the yard.

We played pin the tiarra on the princess... some of the kids weren't into games at all at that age, though.

My sis-in-law sets up activity tables in the back yard, like making tree fairies at one table and making bird feeders at another. That works well. The kids play when they want and do activities when they want. Those parties seem to be the most fun.

Have fun!

Shiny red wide (3") ribbon and some sort of fancy scalloping to put on each side of the ribbon will make a fancy sash for the boys. You could put each boys name on the ribbon using glitter glue as they arrive.

Musical chairs is always a good game (I know it's a fancy party, but if it's close to halloween, doing it to the song Monster mash is always fun for young ones)

Good Luck, I hope the kids have a great time!!!

Maybe a couple of bow ties or regular ties?? I think that would be cute.
