I am looking for innovative and cute ideas for end of the year gifts for my daughter's EC teachers. I am looking for something creative and not to expensive, as she has 6 teachers we will be thanking. I don't really want to do the gift card thing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

What I did for my daughters preschool teachers is a summer planter. I went to WalMart and got a sandbucket ($1), we picked out about three 4 packs of plants ($1.25 each) and a container of foamy stickers in flowers and butterflies ($4.95) I wrote "happy summer" on the bucket in marker, had my daughter write her name on the bucket and had her decorate it with the foamy stickers. We then planted the flowers in the bucket. It was cute, something that each of the teachers loved and can put on their patio/deck/front step for summer and it was all basically made by her. I think my total cost for doing 4 of them was around $20. Being a teacher myself, I would rather have something that was meaningful and thoughtful instead of another coffee mug or even a gift card.
It's not about the cost but about the appreciation. I do also write a personal note to the teachers thanking them for all the hard work that they do for our kids.

Good luck!

Since you don't want to go the gift card route, maybe you could arrange to have lunch delivered to them?

Dear Jenni,
One of the best things a teacher could receive is a written letter of thanks from you and your child. These are remembered long after the chocolates are eaten, and bath soaps are used and candles are burnt. Happy writing!

Jenni,
Even though my son only has 2 teachers, I am planning on buying some terra cotta pots and putting a few herbs in each one. Like basil, oregano etc. You could even have your child paint the pots too with patio paint. Good Luck!

Happy Mother's Day Jenni!

I taught for a couple of years and I always liked magnets so that is what we did. We have 5 kids (most grown up now) but we went to the dollar store or Walmart or other craft stores bought some different material, (inexpensive towels or cloth will do), glue, magnet backing and whatever they kids wanted to decorate with. The kids cut out shapes about 2 or 3 inches and designed their projects. After they were done they glued a school picture on the project. The gifts were carefully thought out and made with TLC. They were personalized gifts to be used for years to come and the teachers loved them.

Hi Jenni!

As a Teacher myself I can tell you that after teaching for many years the things you most certianly don't want is a nick-nack. They take up so much room. Some of the best gifts I have revieved are gift cards to book stores or to the movies ($5 buck club movies at Keresote Theaters) and useful items. Things I can use in my "teaching" or candles and things I can use at home that don't just collect dust or take up space. Try to out do a creative teacher!! Fun Fun Fun!! Also a picture of your child or your child with their techer is always a nice remembrance. Good Luck in the future!
