Help with "Grammy's Travel Box" for Christmas

Hi Moms,
My mother told me she is trying to get rid of "stuff", which I think was a hint to avoid adding to her collection for Christmas. When I thought about what she likes, I could only come up with the fact that she loves visiting her grandchildren, who live in Maine, FL, and Chicago. Since I HATE just giving gift cards, I thought giving her a few gift certificates to the airlines she uses is too impersonal...
What I came up with is to include them in a "Grammy Travel Box". What I need are other ideas for what to include. I was going to include a nice scarf for her trips to Maine and Chicago. I would like some other ideas that would relate to things she can do with her grandchildren (9 months-girl, 2 years-boy, 4 years-girl, 6 years-boy and one on the way) or that she can use while driving and/or flying to see us. Humor is welcome too: (someone told me to include ear plugs so she doesn't have to listen to all the crying haha)
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help!!

What can I do next?

Just a couple quick thoughts of travel: Like the neck pillow idea for a plane and, I think it's Brookstone's who has a good travel pillow. Nice digital camera and maybe a digital photo printer. Good set of cool dice, dominoes and decks of cards (yep...goes back to my childhood - my grandmother had the coolest dice and taught me bunco.) Magazine subscription, brag book, hand weights if she is a walker - works on her upper body strength if she's picking up grandchildren all the time. Nice, pretty perfume and lots of hard candy - grandma's should always smell good!

How about nice neck roll pillow and cozy blanket, those airline blankets and pillows are gross. What about an IPOD or other music player and some music or books on audio to listen to. Any books or magazines that she likes to read to pass the time. Also maybe a set of travel containers that meet the airline requirements (less than 3 oz I think) filled with her toiletries of choice. Does she need any new lugguage, like a really good rolling suitcase. Make her a little scrapbook with pics of the kids and their time together that she can add too. How about a travel diary (you can get one at Borders) that she can log all her trips in. Hope these help! Also it would be really nice to make up a special box to just keep at your house that is filled with all her favorite soaps, toiletries, slippers, blankets, jammies, etc.... This way she feels more like a welcomed family member coming home than a guest plus she doesn't have to lug as much when she travels! Let her know you will keep it replenished.

Hi M.,
How about matching gloves and ear muffs to stuff in her carry on for those cold Chicago days. Maybe a portable DVD player with a subscription to netflix to pass the "down" time. Postage stamps so Grandma can send the grandkids postcards from her trips or notes that she can't wait to see them, or special "Grandma notecards". Gift cards to the restaurants if she gets hungary/thirsty while she is waiting. Craft supply box filled with all kinds of supplies for fun projects while she is at your house.
Good Luck, I'm sure your Mom will love all the thought you put into this gift!

A nice but easy digital camera. I got my mom one of the Canon's and she loves it (and she's not technically inclined at all). A brag book, prefilled. A deck of cards for playing Go Fish. A book of play ideas to do with kids -- I've seen things like this at Barnes and Noble. A nice travel bag. A book for those long flights.

I really like the idea someone else had about travel sized containers that are airline friendly. Also the travel blanket.

Good idea about Grammy's Travel Box. :D
