Have you tried ECI (Early Childhood Intervention)? I know Dallas Independent School District offers this program and Mesquite ISD probably does too. When you first call they should make an appointment to meet with your family for a free evaluation. Good luck with it.

Also, my sisters son has ahlsbergers disease, which is similar, and she has found a lot of information on the internet.

Good Morning Manicela P,

I am a parent of a 17 1/2 years old Daughter whom has Autism. The first thing I believe after my personal experience; Testing from M.I.N.D. Institution for each of your boys. Not just the school district where your boys might attend. And you should get several independent diagnosis. It is extremely important for you to cut out the pennies annie evaluation. And you may go to the Dallas of Metro Care Behavior center for services.
If, you can't pay for there services you will be given a application for evaluation based on your ablity to pay for payment of services. And you will also receive asistance from the Social Security department Administration for each of your children disablities as Autism. Any doctor can provide you with this application or diagnois And they you will have the medical resources from medicaid if qualify.
If, your children seem like they are behaving like they have behavioral problems, you might be interested in starting them off at a autism school. Garland Autism training school. My daughter is going to attend after all the public school let her down with the behavior she obtain with lack of specialized teacher in that field at the schools she has attended for years. And my daughter can't even read yet. So, does that tell you anything? Well, I will leave out the personal but I received my education about the school system a little too late. But, you have a chance to make your children get the best professional help to get a good start for them.

I wish you the best whatever you tried, because believe me you will need this and more to get through this battle and struggle as a Autism family parent.
And please get some help for yourself as you embarge into this life of Autism.

I became a mother and parent of a Autism child when I was 39 years old. I was not provided with good information because I was thinking what the county and state was minumum, the really research is your responsiblity. So, you have hook-up with Mama Sources is a excellant choice of networking for good information on what to do. Their are so many parent have already been where you are. Some, are good stories and good advice. But, their are horror stories that can teach you what not to do as well. Keep seeking information for help. But, try to be specific.
SPECIALIZE- This word should always stay in your mind for your children's well-fare when it comes to learning, teaching, communication. If, it will make the large difference in your children life time. Never cheat them out the opportunity just because a lack financial means. Because where there is a will there is certainly a way to obtain your objective and goal for your disabled children. And believe me there is a wealth of help out there "girl". As a parent you must be dedicated to the end for the purpose of RESOURCES. In, reality your battle has just begun, so "get ready" "get ready" as T.D. Jakes a
well-known minister. And that brings me into another subject; Prayer is the one of your sources you will need on the hours. I know you have faith because the way you have found this site to reach out. Something, or someone had to directed you to this wonderful site. Mama Sources is the bomb of wealth information post.

You need to get the kids into Special Education right away so as to protect them from Mesquite Schools. You have to let Mesquite Schools do the initial test when requesting SPED but my experience is Mesquite ISD does everything to make sure your kid does not get proper services.

Be sure to request a Full Independent Evaluation (Mesquite ISD must pay for it after they do their own evaluation so you get a good evaluation).

Better yet get yourself a Special Education Advocate. Mesquite has a terrible reputation. Sorry to hear you moved into that District.

Hi M., I also have two kids with autism and I know it is so very hard. If you're new in town I would suggest you attend a parent support group. I attend the ones held by the school district (Garland). I recently heard a mom say that the ones help by the Collin County Parent support group are very good.
I take my kids to Comprehensive Therapy Services, they're off of Collins and I-75, in Richardson, it's a little far from you but they're good. I also heard that Excel is very good and visited their facilities and like them also, they're closer and take most insurances.
Your four year old can be enrolled in a special-ed PPCD class in Mesquite. There are a few private schools in the Dallas special education. One is pretty new and it's called FOCUSED and its in Plano, I've heard good things about the owner, she has a young son with autism and experience with Plano ISD. By the way, the best school district (and it's just word of mouth, I can't vouch for it myself) is Plano ISD, this is just what I've heard. But it usually comes down to the teacher and how much she is willing to work with you and your child.
ABA is also an option, especially if your child is high functioning. ABA has worked well for my son who is high functioning. I agree with the moms who reccomend OT and ST, that has helped my son with severe autism. Good luck.

Hi,

I just recently found out my son has Autism. My son is a little younger that your children, but if you would like to chat my email is ____@____.com. I have checked into a few places but a lot of the places are $40,000 to $52,000 a year!! That is for the 40 hours a week they recomend for ABA therapy.

Are your children in Special Ed?
