My physical showed the beginning of hypothyroid I want to take some herbs to help boost that before a retest in may. does anyone know about st johns wort, mustard or gentain while nursing?

st. johns wart, yes. mustard, no. gentain, i dont know.

do not take thyroid medication while nursing because it can cause
neurological damage to the nursing infant.dont believe me, read the back of the label on the medication, it states clearly.. not recommended for
women who are nursing

While your medical doctor may not be able to help you, seek the advise of a naturalist or holistic healing. There are some herbs that should be avoided in pregnancy and during nursing, while others are completely safe to use.

please be careful. call them what you want herbs are drugs and while they may be very useful they are possible interactions and, of course, consequences for breast-feeding. unfortunately, herbs do not go through the rigorous testing for safety that the FDA requires pharmaceuticals to perform. i am not anti-herb at all but please take herbs under the guidance of a doctor.

I was diagnosed hypothyroid 16 years ago when I was trying to get pregnant and I take medication to treat it. As far as I know, St John's wort, mustard and gentain do not have any affect on thyroid levels. If you want to know more about thyroid disorders:
