Have you tried going to the chiropractor. I had my chiropractor do a manipulation where he dropped my pelvis around ovulation time. I also know two other people who did the same thing and we all got pregnant right away.
I am trying to get pregnant for the 3rd time. Baby one took 3 years of trying, baby two took two months and I have been trying for four years after baby two and nothing...
I am looking for any suggestions of what I can try to better my chances. I am not ready to deal with fertility meds yet. I am afraid of having multiples. So I am looking for some natural remedies. I do not know for sure what causes my problems to concieve, but one suspect is that my luteal Phase is to short and my uterine lining is not thick enough to support secure implantation. So, my doc said essentially I have no problem getting pregnant just staying that way. That is why I am looking into the accupuncture and into the Prolief stuff first. sorry I did not post this the first time around, but I just did not know where to start. Thank you for your time and consideration.
P.S. Just in case you were wondering daughter number one was adopted, so I did not forget to mention a pregnancy.
Nothing Happened yet, other then I wanted to say thank you for your wonderful and caring advice, I will definetely try to follow everything I was told. It is nice not to get the attitude of: "You have three healthy children, be happy with that..."
Thank you very much for your support. I think the hardest part is the "relax" portion of the advice...lol

Hi Y.,
Without knowing what exactly is causing your problem, I can recommend a website to you that has an excellent discussion about healthy pregnancy and infertility issues by Dr. Sandra Bevacqua. You can listen to this online for free (you don't have to fill out a questionnaire, join a group or even give your name or email address) just go to:
www.theglobalsuccessteam.net click on "click here to enter site", then click on the "product information", then click on "health issues" and open up the "Building a Healthy Baby from the inside out" presentation.
If you would like to know more about Shaklee after listening to this presentation just email me at:
____@____.com or go to my website at: www.shaklee.net/MindyB
I would be happy to talk with you. Shaklee has helped thousands of women to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. I also have a great CD by ob/gyn Dr. Larry Gould that talks all about pregnancy and his recommendations for infertility. I would be happy to send it to you.
Hope this helps.
God bless,
M. B.
Hello there. I know your frustration. I tried for baby #2 for 3 years and am finally 18 weeks pregnant now. I also refused to go through fertility treatments. Depending on your condition (if you know why you can't conceive), there are different things you can try.
First make sure you are tracking your cycles, most women that fail to conceive are just miscalculating when they ovulate. For instance I had an almost 40 day cycle and didn't ovulate each month until day 30 or 32 or so. So take your temp, watch your cervical fluid etc. A great book to read about this is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".
Second, I highly recommend acupuncture treatments. Find a good acupuncturist and be sure to tell him everything you know. Mine also put me on a customized herbal supplement specifically for me.
Other than that, just try to enjoy the children you already have and don't loom over trying to conceive, that can really add a lot of stress, which doesn't help at all. Try to let it go.
Good luck,
S.
I agree with the ovulation signs.... have you tried an 'Ovulation Predictor Kit'? I'm assuming you probably have if you've been trying for so long, but it worked like a charm with me for my first, after trying for about a year. GOOD LUCK! They can get $$ if you buy them month after month, but it is so worth it. Just remember to be very vigilant and consistent about your signs and taking your temperature in the morning, and to chart everything.
I have heard the best remedies are not to stress out over it. Don't think about it. Just let it happen naturaly. I never planned any of my children. My sister who has 4 children 2 living 1 passed 1 still in her belly. She tried to plan the 4th and she was just stressing out to much. taking her temp. eating different foods, ect. I told her to stop all of that. Just don't think of getting pregnant and let things go as normal as possible. 2 weeks of being "normal" and not taking her temp and all the other odd things she had done she was pregnant!!
Don't stress about it.
Good luck!!
I have a friend that used the Fertility Watch. It is exactly like a watch you wear at night then in the morning it tells you how fertile you are. It may work and then you have a lower chance of multiples and not meds going through your system that could potentially hurt the baby. Good Luck!
I feel your frusteration. I also had a hard time getting pregnant with #3 5yrs it took. I was really moody and a friend suggested a cream by Arbonne it is a progestern (sp) cream you apply it once a day. I used it to help straighten me out so to speak I was pregnant within a month. I believe it was called prolief I do not sell Arbonne so please don't think I am triing to sell you anything. My boss who recommended it to me tried for 10yrs and started Prolief with the advice of a midwife and she also became pregnant with in 2 monthes. It is def. worth looking into. Just letting you know what worked for me. Good Luck and relax it will happen when you least expect it. the funny thing with me is I really gave up and sold all of my baby stuff at a garage sale thinking it was never going to happen 2 weeks after I sold everything I found out I was pregnant lol. I really started the cream to help my mood swings and it did double duty for me:)
Hi Y. M,
I do have some natural answers for you. I have a nutrition/wellness business and many people have had great success in conceiving and having healthy children. I would be happy to talk to you and give you more information. How can I can get in touch with you?
Hi Y.! So, do you temp and chart your cycles? My 1st was conceived pretty quickly, but then I had a m/c when my son was about 10 months old and my cycles were forever messed up. So, after TTC several months after that and charting my temps, I did note that I was having a short luteal phase. My doc prescribed clomid for me, and I got pregnant on the 4th clomid cycle (a year after the m/c). Then, after our 2nd child, my cycles were still crazy and I took clomid again. This last time I conceived on the first clomid cycle. The rate of multiples with clomid alone is not much different from conceiving naturally. My doc has never had anyone get pregnant with multiples on clomid alone. The rate of multiples does go up drastically after age 35 though. For some reason, after that, we apparently have a tendency to release more eggs at ovulation.
Anyway, clomid helped to normalize my cycles and get pregnant more quickly. I don't know if you have a Kroger where you live, but I know that clomid (clomiphene citrate)is on their low priced drug list. Of course, I only paid $24 each month I got it from Wal-Mart.
Good luck to you with TTC and school!
I am in the same boat you are! I have 2 girls (almost 5 and 3). My husband and I have been trying to have #3 for a year now. The doctor did some blood work on me and here's what he did and the results. (Maybe you should ask for these tests to make sure.)
1. Thyroid, glucose/insulin - Sometimes if your thyroid is off or your insulin is off, it affects your chances of ovulating. They fight each other off..it's weird, but it does happen! (Those were fine on me)
2. Progestrone blood draw - This blood draw is done on day 21 after your 1st day of your period. The results show if you ovulated or not. (My levels with this test were soooooooooooooo off)
I also had irregular periods after going off the pill so I had to be put on prometrium for a few months to regulate it, then a couple months of the generic drug of Clomid. This fertility drug RARELY causes multiples. It's like a 3% chance...so I am ok with taking it. After being on the Clomid for 3 months, my progestrone test is finally up to 4.7ish (from 0.07!!!). I'm hoping the next blood draw (next Friday) will be even better..this will better my chances that I ovulated and it's a better chance of getting prego!
I hope that this information helps! I have been distraut for a while now and everyone on this site is sooooooo helpful. Please let me know what happens!
Have you tried accupuncture? I went to Tri-Health Inegrative Health and Medical Center. It is off of 71 on Pfeiffer Rd. I combined both fertilty drugs and accupunture. It is slightly expensive but I was pregnant within 3 months. Good Luck!!
I agree with your first poster... Just relax... Stress of NOT getting pregnant can mess up the hormones in your body! I have a friend who went through years of fertility and miscarriages and finally got pregnant. Then w/number 2 did the same thing and NOTHING... Went the adoption route and stopped all the other stuff and low and behold, pregnant again! Good luck!
have you tried to quit trying? my dad and step mother wanted to have another baby and they tried and right before they said they going to quit trying they got pregnant. this baby is her fourth and my dads second. its easy to try but its harder to get pregnant. do it the old fashioned way and just have fun and enjoy yourselfs. maybe then you'll get lucky and be blessed with a third child.
best of luck
The main thing I can say is pay attention to your cervical fluid, it will be dry after your period and continue to get wetter closer to ovulation. Right before you ovulate, it will be clear, slippery and have the consistency of egg white. A great book to read is "Taking Charge of your Fertility" -- it taught me so much about our bodies. Good luck!
Chlomid is a fertility drug but with very little (or no) chance of multiples, I know tons of people who got pregnant on it without issue. Just a thought.
I actually did accupuncture. We had been "faithfully" trying for over a year and a half. Charting, ovulation kits, all of that. I heard of the accupuncture and thought..it's better than the money for IVF. After 3 treatments, we were pregnant. I did it again during the pregnancy to control my hyperemesis (morning sickness on steroids basically). There is a doctor in Cleveland across from Fairview Hospital that is western and eastern trained. He was actually recommended to me by the head of high risk at fairview. (it was either try the accupuncture or get a feeding tube...I opted for the needles!) His name is Dr. Stephen Flynn and he is at The Center for Family Medicine. He is an awesome man who is very gentle, compassionate, wise, and caring. He is also specifically trained in fertility accupuncture. Also, because he is a western medicine doctor, our insurance was billed as seeing a primary care physician instead of having to pay the out of pocket expense of seeing a regular accupuncture person. Now, not to say it will def. work for you. 1 out of 8 people accupuncuture as no effect on. But, it's worth a shot! Good luck, hope this helps, and hope you try it.
I also am trying to get pregnant. I have had one child and in October miscarried my second (10 weeks pregnant). After doing lots of research, I found out I am probably estrogen dominant - meaning I am not producing enough progesterone. I am starting NATURAL progesterone cream. It is helping my symptoms, fibrocystic breasts, PMS, etc. There are lots of symptoms of estrogen dominance. Most doctors are not into the natural remedies of a woman's cycle, so if you are interested I would suggest you do a lot of your own research as well as ask your doctor. There is a great book called, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause." Don't be too scared by the title. I am only 27 but am finding great info and help in the book. It has lots of great info about your hormones and how to balance them. Plus it also focuses on the emotions and lifestyles of women and not just the medical side.
There could be many reasons why you are having trouble, and I sympathize with you because I know what it is like to try and fail month after month. I'm sure you already know this, but good nutrition, exercise, and low stress will help, not only getting pregnant but just in your life in general.
God Bless you and your struggle to get pregnant. Know there are others out there struggling right along with you.
Something that worked for me was to not shower prior to intercourse, shower in the morning intercourse in the evening for example. The soap & water do something to the cervical mucus. Also take Robitussin that day usually in the morning, maybe two doses, it thins the cervical mucus and makes it easier for the sperm to get through. HTH!
I would recommend the book called "taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler (?). Its on Amazon.com. Goes through a good description on how to track basal temperatures, track ovulation and the start of your period. It worked for me! :)
Minimal investment - time to read is the biggest, not "scientific" like going to the fertility specialist and actually works!
read "Taking Charge of your Fertility" - Toni Weschler
I learned a lot about my body reading this book. It deals with taking your waking temperatures and checking your cervical fluid.
Good luck.
First I would ask the question do you have any thyroid issues or are you over or under weight. Either of those could play a part.
I was underweight and tried to conceive our 1st for 9 months. our second came quicker with about 4 months ending nursing our 1st and about the same after her for our 3rd child. I had some fat on my body to help the hormones. The next thing I would like to tell you is that my cycles are not regular, but I have found that I believe I have been fertile on days 17 and 18 of my cycle. And finally, my husband and I would have intercourse at bed time so my body could be at it's most relaxed state and the sperm could do their thing. Let's face it, we know we're not supposed to think about it and stress about it...I totally agree. But how are you not supposed to when it's somemthing your heart so desires like nothing else.
So I could be most relaxed right before bed time. And let's not forget prayer!!!
You might want to try acupuncture and/or maya abdominal massage (http://arvigomassage.com/) before fertility medications. Good luck!
Please check out Natural Family Planning. Whether you are trying to avoid pregnancy or obtain it I think all women need to check this out! If you are like me, when I first started learning about it I was completely amazed. The basics are that your body actually gives you physical signs that you are ovulating. So, if you are trying to achieve pregnancy then you will know when your best chances for conception are. The signs include: a shift in your BASAL body temperature, changes in your cervix; including how soft or firm it is, if it's open or closed, and it's location of being high or low. Also the consistency and volume of vaginal mucus. All these signs are cross checked in the symptothermal method. (For those women who are trying to avoid pregnancy there are no side affects associated with it because it's completely natural.) It's a well deveoped science that unfortunately many doctors are not familiar with but you can go to www.onemoresoul.com and click on NFP Directory and then enter your zip code to find a natural fertility doctor near you. You can also contact your local catholic diocese (you don't have to be Catholic) to find out about taking classes. Finally you can also order the Home Study Course through www.ccli.org (I first did the home course then signed up for the classes, I would suggest the class over the home course if your schedule allows it.) Additionally I would like to refer you to www.popepaulvi.com. There is a possiblity that there may be something going on inside that your not aware of. I have a good friend who traveled from Oregon to Nebraska to have surgery for her endometriosis by Dr. Hilgers. Her doctors in Oregon wanted to do a hysterectomy but Dr. Higlers was able to save and reconstruct her reproductive organs so she can hopefully conceive once again (she already had given birth to one child).
