Holy Hormones Seriously!!

My hormones seem to be so out of whack I'm so tired of it. My cycles are pretty regular but sometimes are backwards where you usually get all the symptoms the week before you start well I get the symptoms after I'm done with the cycle. Some months at that time I feel so out of body experiences. Meaning my mood swings are so bad I don't even know myself! What is going on with my body? I am going for my yearly checkup in a few weeks so I'll be talking to the doctor but just seeing if anybody else goes through this.
A little info. on me I'm 32 very thin always have been, I've tried and tried to gain weight but nothing helps. I have an 8 yr old son and a almost 5 yr old daughter.

Nutrition has a lot to do with hormone regulation. Before starting any antidepressants or hormone therapy, I'd look into improving your diet. The fact that you can't gain weight concerns me that maybe there is a malabsorption problem in your intestinal tract.
I've had really wacky hormones since weaning my son several months ago in addition to other new symptoms (mild anxiety, fatigue, foggy thinking, and white tongue). Almost 2 weeks ago I started on the candida yeast diet and symptoms have improved dramatically. Good nutrition isn't a magical cure, but I feel so much more energy, stable moods, and clear thinking eating nutritious food.

Proper nutrition and vitamin supplements will help! Seek out a reputable nutritionist and talk to him/her about your concerns and what you've been experiencing. I've seen a nutritionist and followed their protocol and it really helps.

I could go on and on about this topic and my own personal hypotheses about menstrual cycles and hormones, but I'm no doctor so I'll spare you my unproven theories. All I know for sure is that about a year ago my husband got a vasectomy, so I stopped taking birth control pills, and started getting PMS. It seems like every month the PMS gets a little worse. With my last period, the PMS started about 2 1/2 weeks before my period started and was more intense than it's ever been.

I started looking online for solutions. Everybody wants to dope you up: birth control pills and anti-depressants were the most-used solutions. But I kept looking for an alternative because I don't like the side effects that come with birth control pills and anti-depressants. There are a number of vitamins and supplements you can take, including B3, B6, D, magnesium, and St Johns Wort. But the one that sounded most promising to me is L-tryptophan. I went to the doc's office yesterday to talk about my PMS. He of course immediately suggested an antidepressant, but I told him I didn't want to go there and then mentioned the tryptophan. He said that sounded like an excellent idea. I actually went to see him because I hoped he could give me a prescription for tryptophan so my insurance would cover it, but he said it's not available by prescription. So I picked up a bottle yesterday at a vitamin store and took the first pill last night. Hopefully I'll avoid a PMS episode like last month's! I was the same as you; I hardly knew myself and couldn't stand me.

I wish I had saved the website I found that really described how and why the tryptophan works. But I would encourage you to do your own research on it. Best of luck!

If your conventional doctors are not able to help you with your hormones, then seek for a holistic medical doctor's point of view. I see one and I love the fact that he was able to find out what's causing my PCOS. Go see one that takes your insurance. Holistic doctors will do other types of hormonal test than just blood/urine lab work.
Also, read this book from Susanne Sommers "BREAKTHROUGH Eight Steps to Wellness". Check it out in your local library while you wait for your check up in a few weeks. Be proactive and be aware! Good luck to you!

Im a psycho a week and a half before my period. Its so weird I can just feel myself change. Im fat and if I could lose about 90 pounds I know my life would be better but I just have no drive ( really helps the depression) :( I need to get my hormones checked too I just haven't gone. I want you to know your not alone and I hope we both get some relief someday :)

I talked with my gymocologist about this, as I was the same way after stopping using the pill. She suggested a B- complex vitamin. The one that helps best is the Nature Made Stress B-Complex.

I agree with Dawn - get your thyroid checked. If you have trouble losing weight and it seems your hormones are out of whack, you could have hyperthyroidism.

What a coincidence....I've tried and tried to lose weight and nothing happens....maybe we should get together! ;)

Seriously though, I can relate to the hormonal mood swings. They can really be unbearable and make you feel crazy. I know that how I'm reacting and what I'm saying/doing aren't right, but I can't seem to control it at times.

I would definitely talk to your doctor about it...I think it's a matter of your hormones being out of whack and your doctor should be able to run some bloodwork or something to help you figure it out.
