Home Appliance Warranty

I currently have my home appliance warranty through First American. I had to make numerous calls to get these two issues handled correctly. I literally spent 2 weeks on the phone with First American regarding my microwave replacement. Should I switch home warranty companies because of all the "red tape" I have to deal with just to get a repair or replacement complete? Does anyone have any advice? Does anyone have a recommendation of an appliance home warranty company that they actually have liked?

What can I do next?

H.,
I have American Home Sheild and when my oven went they were great. When it was the air-conditioner, it was weeks! When it was the hot water heater that broke, I gave up and asked them to give me the cash amount they'd pay me for handling it.... which was hardly anything!

But I have to say that the annual fee I pay has been well worth the other costs they have covered. I think they're all a pain. At least now you know the red tape route with yours.

They're all going to be a pain. They are much happier about taking your money than they are about providing you with the service you pay for.
Congrats on the baby!

I have had American Home Shield and Texas Home Warranty. I have not had problems with either company. Whenever I have called for service they have gotten me in very quickly. I have no complaints!

I don't think they're really worth the money... you're better of hedging your bets and putting the money aside for when you do have to call someone.

OH MY GOD!!! DUMP THEM!! I HAD THEM FOR 2 YEARS AND THEY ARE A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS TO DEAL WITH. I HAVE TOTAL PROTECT WARRANTY SERVICES AND SO FAR SO GOOD. FIRST AMERICAN SUCKS AND IT TOOK 5 MONTHS TO REPLACE MY DISHWASHER AND HUGE AMOUNT OF RED TAPE!!! TOTAL PROTECT CAN BE LOCATED VIA THE WEB.

We have American home shield but they are HORRIBLE too. We have thought about switching, but wonder if we would have the same problems. Even though they stink, we have saved money because we had to replace the hot water heater and furnace recently and it saved us a ton of money to have the warranty.

We HAD American Home Shield. Horrible. We had to fight to have a/c in the 100 degree summer with a 1 yr old & a 2yr old in the house. They were willing to give us a window unit. Too bad we have a 55 yr old house that has the windows painted shut! Anyway, we went 9 days without air and my husband made over 30 phone calls. My normally patient husband was losing it by the end of the ordeal. AHS spent more money between trying to repair our system and then having to replace it than they would have if they'd done the right thing right from the beginning. We did not renew the contract. We will just bank the annual dues. I do wish you luck in deciding on which company to use.
