I have a great job, but it is not enough when it comes to supporting my two children alone as well as save.
Any ideas on legit part time employment that I can do at home and online?

I'm a Mortgage Protection Specialist, which is a fancy way to say life insurance salesman but I do have several people on my team that are part time. I myself am a single mom of 4 and can't work the normal M-F 9-5 corporate jobs I used to. I know several single moms looking to supplement their income that only work 1 weekend a month, meet with 15 to 20 families between Friday and Monday and make about $2,000 to $5,000 (and that's deposited into your account within 2 to 3 days of turning in your work)

The up sides to Mortgage Protection are:
1) People really need it. It pays off the mortgage in case someone dies, is disabled or gets sick.
2) The interview takes 20 minutes, you don't have a long boring presentation and you don't have to talk them into buying any other insurance products.
3) You set your schedule and work for yourself.
4) You don't have to dress up or try to use pushy sales methods or sell at all actually. The people you meet with sent in a letter with all their info requesting protection for their family. You just find a solution to fit their needs and budget.

Down sides:
1) You'll need to get your Life Insurance License. It's pretty cheap in Ohio and once you have it, even if it doesn't work out for you- you will be eligible for higher paying office jobs in the insurance field.
2) You need self discipline, which is the same with any work from home position.
3) You have to go into people's houses. I'm a friendly person so I like this part because I'm helping people but I know some colleagues who had a rough time with this.

Good Luck on finding that extra job that is just right for you!

What are your interests, aptitudes, skills or talents? There might be a particular service you can offer. A friend of mine with strong English skills corrected essays, and eventually started her own editing business. Another acquaintance tutored kids struggling with math. How about custom knitting, sewing, mending, altering, cooking ready-to-pickup dinners, decorating cakes?

Selling is something that some people have a knack for. Etsy.com is nice if you have a unique handmade or crafting item you'd like to sell. Some people also do well selling on ebay. I have a seller's account and sell things for friends sometimes who do not have one, but I do a bit of research first, see if it is worth selling, and pick a competetive but fair starting price. If I did it regularly I would take a small commission (they have told me to but I never have). You could sell things you pick up at garage sales or no longer use for starters, or start offering to sell for family and friends for a %. That can also be nice for them if they do not want a garage sale or only have a few things they'd like to sell.

I am not sure if you are interested in a home based business, but I really love selling Discovery Toys. It takes a bit to get your business started, find your contacts, etc., but once you get going it's a lot of fun and a great way to supplement income.
