I have been working part time from home with flexible hours. I am about to start working from home full time with set hours while my kids are all in school. I need any tips you can give me on being a WAHM and tips on having a home office. I don't have a separate room for my office-- just a desk in the corner of our large, open living room. Any and all tips will be appreciated, and I also need advice on getting a dedicated phone line for the house as I will need to make calls all over the state.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Sorry, but I can not give you advice on finding a work from home job. I would actually prefer to work with other people but this opportunity fell in my lap when I wasn't looking for it. If you have a teaching degree, check your district or state for a virtual school--that's the only tip I can give.

If you can get a cell phone plan w/ unlimited hours, do that. Otherwise, I've been using magic jack with my regular land line phone and it works fine. SUPER inexpensive, but your computer has t be on for it to work.

I like the office in the closet idea. There are also office armoirs where you can close the doors and the office is "gone".

If you're able to afford someone to do housework, do it - you feel overwhelmed doing it all, but I'm sure you know that already :)

It is hard to manage it all. We are currently looking for office space to move our business out of the home because we end up working 24/7. Someone must be disciplined to work from home...it is easy to see something that needs done and get off track. As you know, you have to stay focused and it is not the right opportunity for just anyone.

However, my daughter is 15 and pretty self sufficient so I do not have toddlers around me while I am working.

As for phone line, we use our cell phones. We have a wireless printer and we have E-Fax. Our faxes come in via email, I print them. If I need to fax, I use the land line we have left (we went from 4 to 1 landline last year) and I send a fax. I LOVE the wireless printer, I just hit the print key and it is done. I then go pick up printing in the home office as needed.

Office space, we do have a home office but we tend to be at the kitchen table most of the time. The lighting is better, we do work together so it is not cramped like it is in our home office.

Best wishes to your new adventure!

I have been using magic jack and love it. It is 40.00 for the phone jack and phone line for the first year and then 19.95 every year after that. All local and long distance included. It also comes with voicemail that goes directly to your e-mail if your computer is off.

Good luck.
