Home Pregnancy Test--which Is Best?

I've never tried a home pregnancy test but it appears that I need to try one as I am 2+ weeks late. My period has been wacky ever since having a baby over a year ago. In any event, which home pregnancy tests (brand) are most accurate? I'm not worried about the results showing up in 15 seconds or something crazy like that--I'm just wanting the most accurate. Thanks so much ladies!!

What can I do next?

I think any of the name brands will work just fine. But for what it's worth, I used First Response.

The most sensitive and least expensive are the ones from The Dollar Tree. They are $1 each and very accurate. You can go to www.peeonastick.com to see the effectiveness of home pregnancy tests.

My sister just found out she is pregnant. She tested 3 days before her period was due and used the $1 test from the dollar store. It took a good minute to show posotive but it certainly showed posotive. She then went and purchased a walmart store brand test for approx $3-4 and it was also a clear posotive.
There's no reason to spend a fortune on a test. Buy the cheapest 2 pack the store sells and if the first is negative, then wait a few days and retest with the second one.

Take care!!

I'm sure you've already taken your pregnancy test by now, but I wanted to mention this as well for the future people that might read this post. Theres a great website called early pregnancy tests.com www.early-pregnancy-tests.com They sell the same pregnancy tests that they use in your doctors office they pick up a positive at 20 HCG level (about 6-8 days post conception) and they are SUPER CHEAP less than a dollar a piece! I've ordered from them a few times, we've been TTC for over 2 yrs, so I know.... Anyways, best of luck to you!

I personally like EPT. Honestly though, if you are pregnant, any of them will work-there can always be false negatives but there are never false positives. JMHO

I think for the most part they are all the same... However, with my second son, I took 3 pregnancy test and the 3rd one cheapest one they had, said I was pregnant. The other two, I waited 1 week past my miss period, came back negative, and it was a name brand and so was the second one that was negative. Now this was 11 years ago, and I'm sure they all have better ones... I had my baby dream, and that's when I started taking pregnancy test. I've always had a baby dream when I am pregnant, and what ever the baby is in my dream, I have the opposite.
Anyway, good luck!

I used an EPT and a clear blue easy and both showed a postive result 4 days before my missed period. I think they are all very similar so I would suggest buying two or three different brands (include a cheap one so it does not cost a lot) and if they all say the same thing I would trust it.

I'm having the same problem with my periods. I haven't even gotten one yet and it's almost been 4 months since I stopped breast feeding. I went and bought the cheapest 2 back for like 10 bucks at the grocery store and just take it first thing in the morning. It came up negative, but I just had to do it for my sanity. Like the other ladies said...if it's positive it doesn't matter what test you get.

I did First Response and took it actually prior to or right around the time of my expected period. I just had a "feeling" I needed to take it eventhough I wasn't late yet. It came back positive and was accurate. I'd try those.

When we tried to get pregnant, I was obsessive about taking home pregnancy tests. I'd start trying a couple days before my period was late. Personally, I got the best and earliest results from the cheap store brand ones than the big name expensive ones. I remember with my first, I got 2 positive results from the Target one that was like 2 tests for $10. Just to be sure, I got the one that has the + or - (can't remember the name), and it came out negative. This was about 3 days before my period was due, so I was pregnant, it was just too early to detect. With you being 2+ weeks late (and I commend your patience to test :), I'd think any of them would give an accurate result.

Hi D.-

I used the Clear Blue Easy when I was pregnant with my son 21 months ago and it was very accurate and I just tested again with the same brand but this time I used the one that tells you 5 days sooner and it was accurate also. I work for a physician office and I had them do blood to confirm the pregnancy test and I AM PREGNANT. So try the Clear Blue Easy they cost a little more then the others but they are accurate.

Clear Blue Easy is the easiest to read, but more expensive.

We used the First Response brand and it is known as one of the best. We used it the day BEFORE my period was suppose to arrive and it already gave us a positive!!! The results are fast and accurate. Now we are heading into our 10th week! Good Luck!!!
