Just go to a bookstore and look at the kids' aisle for workbooks.
And ask the sales clerk about it.
The good thing about going to a bookstore and looking, is that the parent can actually look at the workbooks and flip through it, to see what they like or think their child will like. All workbooks and learning tools are marked with the age of the child it is for, or the grade.

At 4 years old, this is Preschool age.
Typically they work on the alphabet, and numbers, counting, shapes, colors. And being able to recognize it, and name it and say it.
Also: writing, knowing opposites (ie: tall/short, big/small, on/off, etc.)
Also: learning how to ask for things, following simple directions, socialization, cutting with kid scissors, naming objects, coloring, etc.

I purchased a book from SAM'S Club for our sons age group. I have also seen books at Walmart. At this age learning shapes, colors, letters, counting and recognizing those letters and numbers is what he should be focusing on. Also learning to write his name. My son is four and has been able to recognize colors, shapes and say the alphebet, and count to ten for quite some time. Were now working on continuing to count up to twenty, recogninzing the letters of the aplhabet and what numbers are which. He can right the C and O to his name Conner. He is a January baby so we still have quite a bit of time. The book purchased teaches how to write letters, numbers and the above mentioned. Pinterest also has a bunch of "getting your preschooler ready for kindergarden".

I have been homeschooling my 6 children for 14 years. I am not a fan of curriculum for 4 year olds. They will have plenty of time for sit down education in due time. However, my little ones do enjoy starfall.com. Also, if she feels she wants to do something, letteroftheweek.com is a great little free site. It has so much information! Projects, books to read, poems, etc. You can do it as the child is up to it. I would never force it at this age. They learn best through play. Get little puzzles, coloring books, etc. Hand-eye coordination is important to develop. Let them practice writing their letters with their finger in a rectangular tupperware container filled with rice. No mistakes visible, just fun. These little years are fleeting. They don't need to be filled with book learning and being strapped to a desk. ;)
