Has anyone had any experience-good or bad, with any of the home warranty companies? I had one years ago and it was terrible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do NOT use first american. We used them and they never covered ANYTHING! We had tree roots growing into the plumbing and they covered nothing because it was 'an act of god'. Also, we called them to come fix the pool pump, they sent the ONLY company they use out later that week. We came home to a pile of ashes. Our pump caught on fire when the guy came to look at it. Again - it was an 'act of god' and they wouldn't cover it. This was AFTER they came out and replaced all the plumbing 3 months earlier because they were not 'standard' , so we had to pay for that too. Apparently after googling, we found this to be common!

I had Nations Preferred with my condo for 6 years and loved them!

We have American Homeshield. I'm not at home so I'm not sure of the number, but you can look it up on the internet. I think we used our warranty twice and they were great. Hope this helps.

I am a realtor and find that most of my clients are happy with American Home Shield....while none of these companies are perfect of course....this is the one that I get the least complaint about.

Nations was a horror - we went over 7 days without air conditioning last year in JULY because they used a company called Happy who sent inexperienced people out to NOT fix our A/C. We switched home warranties!

We have Old Republic and just had to call a couple of weeks ago (within days of our policy needing to be renewed) due to our AC not working. We called the home warranty people on a Saturday and Sunday the AC company called and they came out on Monday. I was impressed with the quick response. That has been our only experience so far---

When we moved into our house, the previous owners purchased a home warranty for us with Southwest Warranty. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!
We had problems with our AC and had only problems with them. They came out and had my husband sign a receipt, just to prove they were there. He did not request a copy (did not feel he needed one) and later the company filled in text proving that the repair was not covered and a year after the fact came back to us demanding a large payment for services that we believed were covered. We could never get anyone to call us back, the company that the warrany company sent out (that was demanding payment) could never be reached. Finally we settled with them for a portion of the amount due just to make it go away. It did look like we agreed that the charges were not covered becuase we did not get a copy of a blank receipt that they later forged a perceived acceptance. Please,please, please tell anyone who is looking at a home warranty to stay clear of this dishonest company!
