I make homemade baby food and I noticed that a lot of baby food now days have DHA ( fish oils) in them to help with brian and eye development. Do you think it would be okay if I put fish oil drops in the food I make?

I think the DHA and other labels like this on baby food/formula is a total marketing ploy - there, I said it - LOL! Call your pediatrician, but according to this article the AAP is not taking a stance on it and that leaves it up to your pediatrician's discretion. Also note none of these claims have not been supported by the FDA. Not that that should be a deal breaker, just food for thought. Good luck!!

Ooooh! I make my own baby food and I never thought of this....hmmm.

I would say ask the pediatrician first. Good luck!

Check with your pediatrician on that. If you are breastfeeding, I believe your baby is getting DHA that way, especially if you take the supplement. It always freaked me out to see fish oil added to baby food--yuck!

Sure... You can buy fish oil for babies and children. If you use that you'll ensure your baby is getting the right amount of DHA, EHA and all the other components.

No you haven't the equiptment to hide the taste. Give your baby fish ground up small. Give your child whatever he/she wants to eat and agrees with her/him.

I have never heard of putting DHA in baby food. Are you nursing as well? I took DHA supplements while nursing to ensure that some would get to the baby.
