Hi Moms,
My son woke up this morning with a HORRIBLE diaper rash.... He had dirrahea last night while he was sleeping, never cried, and slept in it all night. When I got him up this morning it was dried up and stuck to him (gross I know). His pee pee, butt, EVERYWHERE down there is BRIGHT red and raw... It's super sensitive also. I don't know what I should use on it that won't burn him. You hear about all these "suggestions" but I don't know what will actually work... Any suggestions? I feel SOOOOOOOOOO bad because he's even walking really funny because it hurts :0(

Triple Paste. I believe walgreens carries it. You may have to ask the pharmacy for it but it is an over the counter cream. Believe me it works excellent and right away. When my daughter was born she was in NICU for 4 weerks and had alot of medicine which gave her terrible rash. Red, raw skin. This is the only thing that worked the best. My Aunt even used it when she was going through chemo and it worked great for her also.
Good luck.
Hi Kristy,
My daughter has very sensitive skin and suffers from cronic rashes. We have seen many doctors about this before we found what works for us, I hope it helps him too. First thing, no wipes the solution on them, even the sensitive ones, will irrate him even further. A rinse in the sink works just fine, then allow him to air dry and if at all possible leave him exposed periodically trough the day. Air is really the only thing that will dry it out. Powder also irratates her, but cornstrach works well. When a diaper is necessary any cream will do as long as it has zinc oxide in it, The higher concentration the better, Triple paste works for us. Also try to limit exposer to water until it clears up, no swimming and short baths, and change him often. Good luck!
Hi, Kristy,
Get a tube of Triple Paste. It's kind of expensive ($8 for a small tube), but it will clear up the diaper rash immediately. You should be able to find it at Walgreen's or CVS. Sometimes it's kept behind the counter.
Good Luck!

Let him go naked as much as possible if you can so the air can dry it out. The only diaper rash cream that worked for my son was Arbonne Baby Care Diaper Rash Cream. My son used to get this a lot and I tried everything you can imagine and like you said, it all burned and most didn't work. I actually joined Arbonne because of it. You can order it from my website...www.nicolebritton.myarbonne.com.
This technique always works for me: 1st, don't use baby wipes. They can hurt. I usually take a bunch and rinse their "juice" out in the sink and leave them moist with only water. I give the area a light dusting of cornstarch baby powder and then put on a good layer of diaper cream (I use Aveeno). Then I do a heavy dusting of powder to create a kind of breading. It works because it doesn't rub off inside the diaper and the light dusting of powder in the beginning dries the skin so the cream can do it's thing.
I second the triple paste. My son had an episode of diarrheas as well... and was so sore he couldn't sit in his carseat..... the triple paste helped, as well as using cloth diapers (if you aren't already) to allow the skin to air... or just going bare bottom altogether if he is potty trained.
With the triple paste you should see results within hours.
Good luck,
T.
An ointment called Resinol was recommended to me by a nurse when my son had this horrible diaper rash, like the one you described. It works miracles! You have to ask the pharmacist for it (its behind the counter). I have had the same bottle since my son was 1 1/2 and he's 3 now. You only have to use a small amount and you will see results within hours. There is a website on the bottle: www.resinol.com. I was told it is expensive.....but it's worth it.
HI Kristy! Your poor little guy... I use Dr. Smith's on my 2 year old and 8 week old boys and it is the only cream that seems to work! I cover their bums at the first sign of redness and it is usually gone in the same day! I hope that helps!!
Kristy get pure calendula oil by Herb Pharm. It is a small 1 fl oz bottle with a Y. label. Make sure you don't get calendula extract as that has alcohol. put the oil on the rash and keep dry with pure cornstarch.
Also if the bowl movements continue this way, give pure coconut water as that is loaded with electrolytes and is antibacterial. If you don't have coconuts you can get coconut water at whole foods.
