A close family friend has recently adopted a newborn. She is having a hard time getting formula out of his clothes. Although I have 3 kids all of which drank formula, I can not remember what I used for formula stains. Please reply with tried and true solutions. Thank you.
For clothes that couldnt be bleached but had a stained on a white lapel or the white area of a print fabric, I would dab a Q tip in bleach water, let it sit just a second or two, and rinse, then run the clothes through the laundry as usual. This saved so many of my clothes!
Outside of oxyclean, for both breastmilk & formula - when that didn't work, fresh out of the washer (not after drying), I'd put the item out in the sun (harder to do w/ the winter now) and the sun drying somehow seems to lift the stain right out. Sound ridiculous but... it worked.
I have has this issue with my baby right now. When he got formula on his clothes I immediately sprayed it with the zout spray scrubbed it in and threw it in the washer by itself. If it is white I use bleach. Some people may not want to use bleach on your babies clothes but if it helps save them then do it. My son had his baptismal outfit which was all white and he spat up on it so I sprayed it down and scrubbed it, let it sit for 5 minutes and washed it. Also after is soaks I have tried putting some of the detergent on it as well scrub it in and throw it right into the wash.
I didn't use formula but has she tried oxyclean? I really like this stuff and just recently started using it. It can be used as a pre-treater as well.
Hello! I know that this seems to simple but I carry around a travel size Dreft Stain Remover bottle in my diaper bag and every time my daughter gets a soon to be stain I take off whatever is dirty and spray it; bag it (if we are out and about); Soak it for and hour or so (once we get home) and then wash it. The dreft actually works wonders for stains! It has removed stains for me 99% of the time. Good Luck! :)
I just use spray n' wash liberally and it seems to work. Your friend should probably add in an extra rinse cycle to her wash if possible just because all the cleaners listed are a little more harsh than the average baby soap.
We use a stain stick called "totally toddler". I haven't tried it on formula but it gets everything else out.
I use a laundry line called Ecosense. it is safe for newborns and up. The prespot works wonders(got ble ink of out my white tablecloth), the melabrite whitens and brightens,( w/o the harshness of clorox), and the melapower is gentle enough on my sons skin. we have not had any breakouts or rashes since using this line. You can only get it through the wellness company i work for. it is guaneeted and i would be happy to share more info with you.

My daughter is 7 now and we use spray-n-wash WITH RESOLVE.
We were not aware of the product when my daughter was a baby, but it works on just about everything else now.

My daughter took formula from 6 wks on (she's almost 2 now), and I swear by oxiclean, the powder. Use one scoop in a tub of super hot water (I used the pink tub they gave me in the hospital). Let it soak overnight, and it should come out. If you still see remnants, soak it again in a new soak. After you're done soaking, wash in hot water with detergent. It's always worked for us!!
