How Do I Seperate Different Groups of People on Facebook?

Hello Mamas, I heard that there is a way to separate different groups of people on Facebook such as Family, Friends, Co workers, ect., so that what you post or comment on one group is not seen by the other groups. I have gone to FB settings page and was left thoroughly confused. Is there someone out there who can explain how you do this or can this even be done?

TIA

What can I do next?

Oneperfectone has it. You put them in a list. Then, when you post, you click the gear-looking symbol underneath the post on the right side, and you choose what list you want to post to.

I don't think you can designate your own groups, but you can identify the individual "friends" by clicking how you want them labeled by predefined categories. But perhaps you can make your own group/defined list as well, I've have one such list, but I don't know how I did it. LOL

For example, go to your own timeline/page, and click on your "friends". It will bring up all of your friends and next to their names will be a little box that says "friends" with a yellow star, or a check mark, or a little gray box icon, etc.
You can hover over each person's "friend" designation box, and then click whichever category you want them in. Star, I believe, is for family. The check mark is for friends. The gray box icon is for "acquaintances", etc.
It may be THERE that you are allowed to create your own group designation, like "co workers" or something. So maybe try that.
Then, as you post, you click what group(s) you want to be able to view what you have posted.

I wish I was there to do it for you! it seems easier than explaining it haha.
Anyways...

On your homepage, under your picture, there is a category labeled "friends". hover over that and a "more" option should show up. click that. it will bring you to another page where you will see "+create list". click that.

Once you've added people to your list, save the list and return to your home page. to keep certain "groups" or individuals from seeing something you post, whether it be pics, statuses, or changed personal info, you will have to create the post then find the drop down menu with the options "only me - friends - custom" and set it to custom.

Under custom there is a "don't share this with" section. in that section you would put the group or individuals you wouldn't want to share said info with.

And I believe you would have use the drop down menu every time you wanted something hidden.

OR you could scroll all the way down on your homepage (under your pic) and there is a create a group option. you can add people to your group, but the only problem with that is that they would have to accept your invite.

Welp, that's it! I hope this was more helpful than not :)

Yep, makes "lists" and put each friend in a certain list. There is someone in my life who constantly has issues with what I put on FB. She is on my "X" list! She doesn't see much of what I post anymore. Hopefully she just thinks I'm not as active as I used to be :)
