I soak almost everything in Baby Oxyclean, works like magic. For grease stains, I use the little yellow bottle of stain treatment that's sold near the laundry detergent in the store. I can't remember the name but they make different solvents for different types of stains. I've used the rust version with success too but have found that for common stains Oxyclean works great and it's only grease stains that need a little extra help.

Gojo Creme Hand Cleanser from Napa Auto Parts. Yes, seriously! I have found nothing that works better. You just rub a little bit into the stain, wait a few minutes (I give it 10), then wash. I tried putting it on as soon as the stain occurred and then washing later, but it didn't work then. I have used it on blood, spaghetti sauce, chocolate, dry erase marker ink, and grease. The only thing I have never found a "cure" for is Starbucks mocha.

I use gallenseife which I buy in Europe. It is soap made from the gall bladder of a cow.
Ecover which is a Belgian company makes a stain remover you can buy here. It really works. And it is totally non toxic.

I've never tried it, but I have heard lipstick for ink stains. Also, we were buying some furniture once and the salesman said baby magic bath works to get stains out of upholstery.

This beats anything out there. Since I have used this product for over 40 years (it works so good I wouldn't use anything else) I wouldn't know but for people who have used everything then came to Shaklee they say it beats anything out there and they don't go back to using what they used to use.

Get stubborn stains out by using:
2 TBS Fresh Laundry (liquid or powder)
2 TBS Nature Bright

Put in a pail of water for about a week and then throw the water with the clothes in the washer and wash. Clean.

Regular washes are 1/2 to 1 oz Fresh Laundry liquid and about 1/8 cup or so of powder.

I sometimes wet the area with water and then put extra liquid laundry or Basic H2 on the clothes and scrub a little to get it in the clothes and wash

By the way it is so inexpensive and highly concentrated that you use such a little bit. Some of the products are less then the $1 store when you mix up the concentrated form into the appropriate amounts. In fact, the window wash is less than a penny for 16 oz to make. And the all purpose cleaner is about 21 cents per gallon unlike the others that are anywhere from $7 to $21 per gallon.

It is biodegradable within 7 to 10 DAYS and it WORKS!

By the way, my clothes last so long that they last for over 10 years or more. Talk about savings on your clothes too!!!!

I haven't read all of the answers, so sorry if these are repeats ...

Hair spray (non-aerosol) will get ball point pen out.

Toothpaste on a clean cloth will get crayon off of a painted wall.

Use drywall sandpaper (looks like screen) to clean your toilet, it will get ANYTHING off, with no other cleaning agents. Works awesome! Just cut a little piece off and use it until it doesn't work anymore.

Great post, thanks!

Blood - soak in peroxide and keep flushing with it.
ink - rubbing alcohol (same as above).
most other stains - soak in dreft in cool water over night and occasionally rub more dreft into it.
cooking oil - dawn dish detergent.

I also like oxi-clean but the whole garment needs to be soaked as in daylight you can see the spot treated area is brighter.

Another vote for hairspray for ink.

For greasy stains, first try a litle dish detergent. Give it a rub, let it soak in for a minute & toss in the wash. If that doesn't work, try a dab of Lestoil -- it's a heavy duty cleaner and will take an extra rinse or two to get the smell out, but I've had great success with it. BTW -- some baking soda and/or white vinegar helps get out any smell.

If something went in the washer with a stain DON'T put it in the dryer! Let it air dry until you're sure the stain is gone. If it's not totally removed, the heat from the dryer "sets" the stain and makes it harder to try any Plan B.

I spray them with a pre laundry product. I've used several brands because I buy on sale. This gets most stains out but not greasy ones. I've successfully used it on blood, spaghetti, some inks, mud, chocolate.

I also pour liquid laundry detergent on stains as I'm putting them in the washer. This works too and most of the time on the greasy ones too.

I've read that Dawn, the dish washing soap is very good at getting out grease stains. I'm going to try it just for fun.

For grass or blood stains, soak them in milk. It actually works quite well. For grease stains, soak them in Dawn dishsoap - it works great!!
