Ok, strange question, but when you buy cheapie undies (thongs), say from the target bins (you know, $5 for $25 or whatever they are), how long do they last before they fall apart? Mine seem to be in shreds after about 6 months. Ok, I am exaggerating, not shreds, but they definitely don't have much wear left!
My VS seem to last forever. Am I imagining this?

I'm a hanes grannie panty girl (well, not quite that bad, but I can't stand thongs) and they last several years.
I use a net bag for my undies.. They can last for years. I also hang them to dry. The heat from the dryer kills the elastic..
I've been buying only Warner's undies for several years (Sale 3/$21 or something) and I've NEVER had a pair "wear out."
I don't do any special laundering: sort/wash/dry/fold.
After I started buying VS underwear, I never bought anything else. They're the best and you can get them for almost the same price when they have the 5 for $25. Target, Kohls, etc last a max of a few months before they start raveling or the lace tears.
I buy the package of 7 or 8 from Walmart. They last for about two years.
I only buy VS underwear, and you're right, they last forever, so why buy anything else?
All of my undies ( thongs) are Victorias Secret and they last a long time before they hit the shred mode.
My daughter also only wears VS thongs and no issue with the being long lasting.
That said... I can't answer to Target or any other brands because all of our undies are VS with exception to my bras.

no I agree. Will not buy Target underwear again. I have a pair of le mystier panties older than the 11 years I've known my husband (only bought them to match my bra). Sure, they cost $20 a pop, but apparently they were worth that. Target underwear fall apart, some of them in a matter of weeks, not months.
I know my VS bras only last 6 months. no thoughts on the panties.
I have VS ones that I've had for years and still look good. Now, I don't wear them that often, so I'm sure that factors into that :). I wear my Target ones all the time and I would say they last about a year. They don't have holes or anything, but they look dingy. Sears ones hold up well, in my experience.
I've only ever bought Target/Walmart/Kohls undies (not thongs), and they always last me years. I've done the packs from Fruit of the Loom or Hanes, as well as the open bin ones. Of my most recent purchases (about a year and a half ago), the Target ones (Gilligan and O'Malley) have held up wonderfully, the Kohls ones (Candies) have seen better days but aren't yet shredded or ready for the trash bin.
I never have good luck with any underwear lasting, other than VS - those last forever! I just wait until around Christmas time when VS has their cotton ones 6 or 7 pairs for $25 or $26 and buy them then. They have pretty much any style you prefer, as well as a wide assortment of prints. You can't go wrong!
