2-3 Diet Coke
1 Sprite or root beer (no caffeine)
1 Cola
1-2 Cherry, Dr. Pepper, or Mtn. Dew
You could also just serve iced tea, coffee, and lemonade. Put sweeteners out for the coffee and tea.
I'm having a birthday party for my twins tomorrow and it looks like a good turnout. Yay! We're serving soda for the adults. How many 2-liters would you suggest for 20 adults?
Thank you!
We went with 5, 2-liters of an assortment, along with bottled water. Thanks so much!

1 diet pepsi (coke), 1 regular Pepsi (coke), one sprite (7 up), one fun (punch, rootbeer). Four total, that's 5 people per soda bottle. Which is more than plenty. I would also serve water.
IMHO soft drinks have fallen out of fashion so I would serve bottled water for those who do not want a soft drink.
If you do not know your guests' soft drink preferences than I think Gee R. has a good breakdown.
I've given up serving soda (I don't drink it and I don't buy products with HFCS or artificial sweeteners). We serve water, some kind of juice drink (last party we did aqua fresca in several flavors) and iced tea (super easy for a crowd). Have a great time at the party. Most of the kid parties I go do really don't provide anything beyond water for the adults - glad you are thinking of the grown ups too.
You should expect one drink per person for every hour of the party.
You will get about 8 - 10 glasses of soda out of a one liter bottle. So perhaps 2 - 3 bottles and a case of water. You will have too much, but better to be over than under.
