At my son's 3 year appointment he was 40 pounds and 40 inches. He's always been in the 95th percentile for both height and weight.
My son will be 3 in July and he weighs 27 pounds and measures 36 inches. He was always on the thin side. I'm wondering what the average weight for a 3 year old is.
At my son's 3 year appointment he was 40 pounds and 40 inches. He's always been in the 95th percentile for both height and weight.
My 3 year old daughter is 37 pounds and is around 38 inches or so. My 14 month old weighs 29 pounds.
My 4 yr 3 month old weighs 33 lbs and is 37 in. The little boy I babysit is 3 yr 7 months and weighs 30 lbs and is 38 inches tall. My daughter weighed 35 lbs and was 39 inches tall at 3 yrs old. All kids are different. As long as your son is growing at his own rate I'm sure he is fine. Make sure he has healthy foods and plenty of exercise and I'm sure he'll be fine.
My 3 yr old weighted 28 lbs and was 36 inches for what seemed like forever. He is now 3 1/2 and weighs 30lbs and 37 1/2 inches. Don't worry about the "average". As long as he is healthy- you have nothing to worry about. If he "falls off the chart" then the doctor will be concerned, but he is nowhere near that.
Here are the charts so you can see for yourself!

Definitely depends on the child!! My oldest was 31lbs at 3. My second..well I'm not sure she is even on the charts anymore, she was 22lbs at 3..she is 4 1/2 now and 28lbs. My youngest, who is 2 is 32lbs..so yes, he is bigger than his big sister. lol, they all grow differently, they all have dif body shapes, my daughter is extremely petite, while my youngest is "solid". You don't need to "fatten" him up (as an earlier poster recommended) I think the size seems about right, as long as he is eating alright and his dr doesn't seem worried, there is no need for you to worry! Also, at that age kids are so active that they just run around and burn all those calories off.
my 4 year old is 28 lbs and 37 inches..as long as kids hit developmental milestones and are heating a healthy diet I wouldn't worry too much
Yes, that is very thin. My son (who is 50 percent for height and 75 for weight) is 2 years and 2 months old and weighs 31 lbs and is 36 inches. Try fattening him up (healthy way though, not soda and othe empty calories) since if he is sick, he is likely to loose his appetite and will get even more slender. Is your doctor concerned?
That does sound thin, but not alarming. My 2yr 3months old son weighs 25 and he looks thin to me and it at the 25th percentile. I'm guessing your son is probably at the 10th? Is he running a lot? That age of activity will burn a lot of calories. Does he like milk and other dairy? He may need a little more calories.
My 2 1/2 year old girl is 34lbs and 36inches.
My 3 year old daughter is 35 pounds and is 37 inches.
My 5yr and 4mo old is 42in tall and weighs 33 lbs... she still wears 3T shorts and skirts. My 3yr 5mo weighs 30 and is 37 in tall.
My daugher was 30 lbs. when she was three. She is four now and only weighs 32 lbs. The doctor said she is just fine. Some kids are just a little smaller. :)
That seems okay. My daughter is 4 and weighs 33 lbs and is 40 in. My son is 19 month and is 26 lbs and is 33 in.
At my daughter's well check yesterday the pedi said to let her drink whole mild and make sure she was eating healthy. She also said that my daughter was a little on the thinner side, but was a really healthy girl and that she would rather see a child that is a little thin compared to one that is obese.
I have a friend that has a son a little older than my daughter. He is a lot smaller than my daughter, but I have a feeling he will catch up somewhere later. His dad is quite tall, but was small when he was little. The doctor wanted him on steroids and the mom refused. Looking at him now you would have never guessed he used to be tiny....I'm assuming the same will happen for my daughter's little friend.
My son will be 3 next week and is 37 lbs, 40 in. His 7yo brother was 42 lbs, 41 in at 3yo. My niece will also be 3 next week and is 25 lbs, 39 in. It all depends on the kid. Yours sounds normal!
My son is 3 and 4 mos and weighs 32 lbs. I think he's 37 inches.
I would not seek to know what his average is, as there are so many overweight and even obese kids who throw off the curve. My nephew is 3.5 and 28 lbs. My sister recently took him to a nutritionist because she was concerned with him being underweight. The nutritionist also said not to compare your kids to others, because of the childhood obesity trend. Most parents whose kids are overweight think that their kids are normal. Most parents who who think their kids are underweight are actually the true normal.
If you are still concerned, I'd contact a pediatric nutritionist.
It all depends on the child. As long as they are growing on THEIR growth chart; there is no need for worry. My oldest has always been petite and she is now 9 years old and only weighs 47lbs and is 47 1/2 inches tall. My middle child is 4yrs. old and weighs 42lbs. and is 42 1/2 inches. She is going to pass her big sister up soon! My 2 1/2 year old weighs about 25lbs and is 35 inches tall. They are healthy with different body types. I have never worried because they have always been consistant in growth on their growth charts. My ped. is fine with the way they all are growing and so am I!!!
I think your little one sounds just fine, and I would not worry too much. I hope this helps you feel better! Have a good day!
My daughter was 28 lbs and 36 in at her 3 yr check-up.
My son just turned 3 a few days ago. Yesterday he weighed 33 lbs (the 65th percentile) and measured 38.5" tall (the 76th percentile). He is on the long and lean side -- but not skinny.
My daughter will be 3 next month and she is 35 inches tall and 32 pounds.
My son just turned 3 in March and he's 30lbs and 37 3/8" tall. I think he's just right!
J was 3 in december. He weighs 38 lbs. He is stocky but by no means fat looking.
i think that the normal 3 year old weighs about 32 pounds, so your son isn't too far off, especially since he is not 3 yet. My daughter is almost 3 1/2 and she is 41 pounds. She is on the other side of things. :( It's a worry no matter what, right? :)
