My daughter is almost 7 months. We are through all the stage one foods and just starting stage two now. My question is, how much should she be eating at this time and how often through the day? I'm still nursing, but plan to wean her over the next few months. We currently do food in the am and pm. When do we start 3 times a day? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

My daughter just turned 7 mos this weekend. We started feeding he solids at 4.5 mos. We're starting stage 3 now. Here is our schedule, although she's acting a little weird lately. I think it's teeth.

She doesn't always finish her bottles or her food. She lets us know when she's done. She spits it back out. I put her fruit and veggies in a seperate bowl. Our ped. said not to use the container the food is in to feed from just in case she is sick.

6 a.m.: 6 oz bottle (she falls back to sleep until around 8)
*8:30 or 9: cereal/fruit/veggie
10 a.m. or so: 6 oz bottle
Noonish: fruit/veggie/gerber graduate puffs-they are soft and melt in her mouth-when they make it there ;-)
1 or so: 6 oz bottle
SOMETIMES a 4 oz bottle as a snack
5:30 - dinner cereal/fruit/veggie
7:15 8 oz bottle then asleep for the night

It seems like you are always feeding them.

Good luck.

I have a 7-month old who is now at 3 meals per day plus 3-4 bottles/nursings:

Here's the approximate schedule -
530am nurse
9am cereal and 1 stage-2 fruit
noon - 4 oz of formula
230-3pm cereal and 1 stage-2 vegetable
5pm - nurse
7pm - stage 2 vegetable and stage 2 fruit or veg/meat combo
930pm nurse

Hope that helps!

My 6 month old eats three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. All stage 2 foods, plus 1/4 cup of cereal at each meal. For dinner he will usually eat 2 containers of stage 2 foods plus about a half a cup of cereal. Also, he nurses a minimum of 4 times a day, usually between meals, and before bed.

Hi M.,
I hate to sound repetitive, but it's true, she'll let you know. I have a 7 1/2 month old and she usually has 4 7oz bottles (7a, 11a, 2p and 6p). In between the 7a and the 11a I usually give her a little fruit while my older daughter has her snack. Then I make her 7oz bottle at 2p and make cereal with it and then in between the 2p and 6p she'll get a vegetable. That isn't consistant every day. Sometimes she'll get the food righ before of after her bottle and not have that snack. Depends on how chaotic the day, but I try to keep it semi-routine.
Again, she'll let you know.

Enjoy your first! It goes too fast!
Good luck,
K. :~)

She'll let you know. Some kids have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Heck my youngest needs a "snack" before bed as well! She's 9 months. My son was lucky to have two jars at that age. If she is hungry after her bottles; give more food. Good luck!

Hi M.,

I did the same thing with both my sons. I let them decide. My oldest started eating different foods much earlier then my youngest who is now 10 months. Every kid is different so they are the best guide as far as I'm concerned.

I hope this may help a little.

Good luck,

N.
