How Much Time Do You Spend on Mamapedia?

I think I might be developing an addiction to the internet! :-) Just curious about other moms out there--how much time do you spend on this website? When do you usually get on: once a day, once a week? Do you get on when you're at work, or when your kids are napping or at school? I've been spending my mornings on here while drinking my coffee, but I've also found myself on here instead of doing other things (like the housework). I love reading other people's questions and all the different answers and advice, but I think I should probably turn off my computer now. :-)

I guess this is more of a just for fun/just curious type of question. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the answers, mamas! It's good to know that I'm not the only one who spends lots of time on here instead of getting work done. :-) To answer my own question, I have been spending 1-2 hours in the morning before the kids are awake and before they start their schoolwork, and 1-2 hours at night after they're in bed. WAY too much time, but it's so addicting to read all the questions everyone writes and try to answer any that I can. Thanks for sharing your answers with me; you ladies are great!

Enough that sometimes I challenge myself to refrain from getting on here. That may be a slight addiction...

Sadly I'm on here anytime i'm on a computer. Most of my classes I use computers. I don't get on when I'm working, but when I get home and little O is a asleep, i'm on!! I'm doing other things, but boy it's almost the wallpaper to my computer.

way too much. I am on all day at work m-f 9-5. I check it as soon as I have logged in at work. I close it and say - ok, no more playing around. Time to get to work. Then as soon as my boss ticks me off I open it again! Everyone else gathers in offices and chit chats with each other. I sit at my desk diligantly typing. They all think I work so tirelessly! LOL I would just rather interract with yall than them!!!

I'm a grazer. I check my facebook, email and mamapedia sporadically throughout the day when I have a few minutes: morning coffee, after the kids are in bed, when they're all playing nicely and occupied, when I should be cleaning ;o)

Great question. I wonder the same thing. I am very addicted to mamapedia, and I spend way too much time on this site every day. I also read the questions and responses while drinking my morning coffee (you responded to my post about Alicia Silverstone scaring me about caffeine - BTW, I decided to do 1/2 caffeine and 1/2 decaf!). This site relaxes me. We can't be cleaning the house all day long. We need our own time, and if we choose mamapedia to be our "me" time, then so be it! But I really need to be on here less!

I am on Mamapedia from 8-4:30 and then some on the weekends and during the evenings depending on my schedule. I am mostly on while I am at work even though I hate to admit that one.

I too have an addiction. :)

Um, way too much. I have to try to set time limits for myself, and I always fail miserably. I am definitely addicted.

I wonder what type of withdrawal symptoms I would experience?

I check once in the am, once at lunch, sometimes in the afternoon while kids are having quiet time and occasionally in the evenings. Tho, if kids are sick or schedule gets super busy I go MIA for a while. I enjoy Mamapedia, but I don't have to have it everyday.

I rarely go on the weekends unless hubby is out of town and I have read all the gossip sections about the "stars", hehe.

I was fine but then Monday triggered something in my and I am on here ALL day while im at work. I find myself just 'checking in' on the questions about every 20 mins and reading answers to almost ALL the questions. Prior to that I was on here about once a day in the evenings just winding down.

Guilty pleasure - although I feel like I do lean something from reading posts. I scan through the questions and just read the ones that jump out at me. I don't read all the responses and I do post comments regularly. Time? I don't know, maybe 45 min to an hour some days, other days zero. I do like it more than Facebook which I'm really over now. I sometimes discuss interesting questions/answers with my husband after dinner when we have our adult conversation time.

I have to say I usually log in to Mamapedia daily, sometimes skipping a day here and there. The time frame is usually 30mins but once a month I find myself up late reading questions advoiding going to bed, for 2 hrs :) When I come on, it really varies since my daughter is not yet in full time school, so really I log on when I am free.

I agree that I love reading the questions and I have learned a lot from looking up old questions to an issue I am having or if I am not finding an answer I am asking.

its my way to decompress...I will pop on if I have time in the AM when my little one is engaged in Sesame Street and the big kids are already off to school. Sometimes I will treat myself to a peek if I have been quite productive in the house work = ) Lots of times though I will log on when everyone is sleeping and the house is blessedly quiet and I can relax and unwind for a bit before bed.

At night for hour or two before bed.
I don't check at it at work or if I am at home with my son. As soon as he is gone to bed I am on here.
I promised myself that I would not be on the computer when my son is around, he is 3yrs old and I think it would be unfair if Mammy was choosing the computer over him.
All the best

I read the Mamapedia daily that comes to my inbox every day and if there are any questions (like this one) that I'd like to answer, I hop on and answer. Usually (okay, always) when I'm at work. Today, however, it's my lunch break;)

I often will read and not respond simply because it's an interesting question for which I wonder if I will ever need the sage advice that might be given and want to be sure to store it in my memory bank of "how to be an awesome Mom" :)

I check my email every morning after I get home from dropping the kids off at school in case I can help with any of the questions. Sometimes I can contribute something, but more often I'm reading other people's responses because I have a similar problem! All totaled I usually spend anywhere from 10-30 minutes each day.

My husband gave me a little grief about it recently. I told him it was part of "my job" as a mom to keep up to date on effective parenting strategies. He thinks I come by great mothering naturally. Nope - it's all of YOU!!

Wow. Great question and so happy to see I'm not the only one. I get on about three times a day for 10-15 min. a pop about 5-6 days a week. Sometimes I spend over an hour. I have considered removing myself from the sight because of it. One day our comp. was down and I got sooo much house work done! It was a wake up call and since that day I've really toned it down.
