Some chains won't allow you to tip the delivery person. We used Safeway's delivery service and were told they can't accept tips. You might double check the website for the market you're using.
I'm having some groceries delivered shortly. It is about $80 worth, and I am paying a delivery fee of $8 + $1.50 fuel surcharge. How much tip is appropriate? $5?
I used Peapod, but there was a line on the credit card slip for tip, so I did tip. Since it was 90 degrees out, I did tip more than $5.
Thanks!

I'd say you are right on the amount of $5!
Ours is far more informal. The grocer is around the corner. The delivery guy comes with a hand truck. We use him once or twice a week, and tip him a dollar or two, as a courtesy. I get the feeling that the tip isn't really expected.
I tipped the Peapod guy $5, and he was very appreciative.
When I did Peapod, it was explicitly stated NOT to tip the guy. They're not allowed to accept tips.
