My baby is due in May and after taking three months off I want to return to work part-time. How do you go about finding nannies or in-home daycares? I have tried searching in our area (we are moving to Dallas at Royal and Midway) and I can't seem to find any. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks for all of the help. We were able to find an in home day care that we liked and are still looking into the nanny option. It is all overwhelming so I really appreciate everyone's help.

You might want to check out Mom's Best Friend agency. I work through them as a Temp nanny. They are a AWESOME christian based company. Here is their website. mbfagency.com

Hope this helps.

Check out www.gonannies.com. They're the only large online placement site I've found that has both nannies AND in-home day care. You can search free to see if there are good prospects near you before registering. Also, they specialize in background checks. I've used them 2 times and have spoken to them on numerous occassions for help and advice. They're great.

p.s., They recommended I do a trial period (when I'd still be present in the home) before making any final offer. I now recommend the same to everyone. It was so necessary!

C.,
I own and operate a registered in-home childcare in the Frankford/Tollway area. Go to www.dfps.state.texas.us and click on find childcare, type your zip code and you will get all the licensed facilities in your area. You can refine your search by selecting only home daycares. I would go with a nanny or a home childcare vs the corporate facilities. Your baby will get more personalized care and will be less exposed to germs.
Good luck in your search!

When I nannied years ago, I used www.enannysource.com to find a job. Families and nannies both post profiles, and you can email each other. There are other sites that do the same thing, I just don't know the names of them. Good luck and Happy New Year!
