Can you "make it fun?" I used to kindof resent that my free time was spent on working out. Last year I let myself go, too. I was tired of always trying to hard and wanted to just have fun and do what I wanted. I ended up gaining a lot of weight and feeling quite yucky and tired all the time. This year I decided to get in shape again but I mostly just do things that are fun to me. For example:
-Hula hooping. You can get a weighted hoop, which actually makes hooping much easier, if you are a newbie, at most sports supply stores. I can feel a big change in my stomach after hooping just 10 minutes. If I dance around like a goon while hooping to music, I also work up a sweat and have a good time. I can do it while I watch tv, too.
-Biking. I am much more likely to go to the park now because it is super fast to get there and back. I have been biking to the park 4-5 days a week now. I have a bike trailer so I can pull my 4 year old. Going on a bike ride is something fun the whole family can do together. I have started venturing further, like biking to get groceries and hitting some nearby trails. I just started off small by going around the block daily but now I really look forward to my daily bike rides.
-Yoga. Love yoga. I love that people of all ages and skills are there. I really feel like I come out of there so refreshed. It is like a nap and fitness rolled into one, lol! It truly feels like "me" time, and it does help a lot with strength, flexibility, toning and burns calories.
-Zumba. Felt silly at first, now I am addicted. It is so fun. It is dancing, the music is loud and fun, everyone is happy. I bought a zumba game for the Xbox and it is quite good. In fact, it is just as good a workout as going to a class.
Anyway, I know it is hard to start off, but if you just start slow (a 10 minute walk, a bike ride around the block, one easy class, a quick round of pushups) then it is so much more pleasant and bearable. I try to do mostly what sounds fun and a little bit of "un-fun" like pushups or that stupid Jillian Michaels workout that I hate but gives good results. If it is mostly fun stuff and I only have to bear a few minutes of the un-fun, I stick with it and look forward to my workouts.
I am sorry to hear of your miscarriage. I hope you feel better soon!
