How to Get Rid of Pet Stain

Yuck! Our dog woke us up at 4:30AM vomiting on the new carpet. There's a REALLY bright yellow stain left behind(bile?) and I want to be careful about treating it since it's really obvious. Any ideas? Our kids are older and we don't have other pets, so my concern is aesthetic. Of course, this is the weekend we're having 40 people over for Easter/housewarming so every room will be checked out!

What can I do next?

fill a bucket or something with warmish hot water, 1tbs dawn original dish soap, 1tbs white vinegar This takes out most of my stains and it has done it with my dogs yucky yellow puke stains (also with cream carpet)

Sounds like your dog maybe has reflux, my dog had this and almost like clockwork every week one of the days she puked up stomach acid around 4:00 am. first try giving your dog plain yogurt, a tablespoon nightly and a small snack before bedtime, something bland like white rice or bread.
If it is stomach acid her stomach is obviously empty. I was freaked as my dog doesn't do this every night but my vet said and indicator of reflux. Believe it or not! :) If this is a one time thing I wouldn't worry.

Now for the stain, my dog seems to think to go into my kids room to puke! So I know about that. First get warm soapy water and pour it over the area, right away put a towel over it and press down hard!! Then get Oxy Clean in a spray bottle mixed with warm water. Once you have soaked up the initial yuck factor, spray oxy clean on the spot, let it sit for 10 minutes then scrub it out. I have very light colored carpets and this works every time. Don't let the stain sit for long at all.

resolve--the one with two sides that when you squirt it out and they touch each other they foam. When all else fails this gets out my pet stains. I have a bissel spot bot though and it gets most of the stains out right away with the oxy gen added in with the formula for cleaning and water. but when I do it by hand, I use resolve.
we have 2 dogs and a cat.
and we are potty training a little girl.
we get the stains out.
i have cream carpet (roll eyes)
Good luck

I like Resolve too. It has chemicals in it, but it works. Good luck & Happy Easter!

For pet stains, I have always used Kids 'n Pets. It comes in a white pop-top bottle with a yellow label with dark blue letters. You can get it anywhere (grocery store, walmart, Target, etc...) for about $4 a bottle. The reason I like this is because, most importantly, it works, and because it has an enzyme neutralizer so that your pet won't be able to smell the spot they had their little accident after you clean it. That way they aren't tempted to return to that spot again later. It takes out the color, the smell, even the stuff we humans can't smell, and leaves the carpet nice and clean. The Resolve probably will work fine, and maybe a home shampooer if you have or could borrow one, but I still stick by my Kids 'n Pets.

I've had really good luck w/ baking soda and vinegar. sprinkle baking soda. then spray w/ a solution that's 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water until baking soda is completely dissolved and the fizzing stops. then dab it all up w/a white cloth. I've had a couple of puke stains that took twice - but its always worked. The good news is that if this doesn't take it all the way out, you can still use a commercial cleaner because you haven't already applied something.
