White vinegar and on these sunny days, drag the mattress out and let the sun work on it for the day.
My daughter has recently wet the bed a couple times and I have tried to clean the bed as best as I could but there is still a urine smell. Does anyone know what cleaner I can use to get these sopts and smell out of the mattress?
Thanks ladies!! I am going to try some of your suggestions!! I appreicate it!
White vinegar and on these sunny days, drag the mattress out and let the sun work on it for the day.
I cleaned my son's mattress with water, vinegar and a little bit of laundry soap. I used just enough soap so it was there but not enough to suds up-maybe a tablespoon for a gallon of water (?). It did get rid of the urine smell, but of course he had a vinegar smell for 2 or 3 days.
BTW, I add vinegar to my laundry to get rid of any smells from my kids clothes. The laundry does not smell like vinegar after and I have noticed improvement in how clean they get as well. My kids are pretty rough on their clothes.
put baking soda on it when its still wet the baking soda will pull the urine out and then vacumn up the baking soda. it will also take out old urine smells to.
carpet cleaner for pet smells works good. I use it on my daughter's mattress. and to keep it from happing again i just put a large trashbag under the sheet. or you could buy a mattress cover. But if you do that be careful because some brands take in some of the moisture and mewdew the bed. good luck
I am not sure if this will work but, Dollar General has a product in the pet section that is called Pawls, it is a urine remover, it works very well for my dogs potty problems in the house. It cost about $2.00-3.00 so for the price it is GREAT!
I've heard Vinegar works well (regular white vinegar)
Try to leave it out in the sun for a day.
I am out of it right now or I could get the name right, but I buy a small white pump sray bottle at Wal-Mart in the deoderizer/carpet sprinkle/by laundry detergent area. It's small, maybe 10-12 oz.s, and I think it has green on the bottle. Anyway it's an odor remover and it is for urine smells. It doesn't have a strong smell and I can just spray it in the air and the smell is gone. It was about $1.98 I think.
If my mattresses get wet I strip them and spray this liquid on and let it dry. BTW, they sell matress protector sheets at Wal-mart dor just a couple of dollars. It's like a big bag that zips and it fully covers the bed.
saturate spots with vinegar, generously sprinkle baking soda on wet areas. allow to dry, baking soda will absorb liquid vacuum when completely dry
Get some Urine Gone! It works to break down the urine smell. I think Target sells it. Otherwise go online and find where to get it.
Find a local carpet cleaner that has the name "Chem-Dry" in it's name. They have a treatment called P.U.R.T (pet urine removal treatment) -it works on human urine. The products used by them are natural.
i use one tbsp of bleac to a half bucket of water. Try that. I also use febreez after I moisten the area and use baking soda to absorb the smell. u sprinkle the spot and let it dry up so about an hr.
Once you are able to get the smell out, I encourage you to buy a waterproof mattress cover for you child's bed because accidents are bound to happen again. ;) We have waterproof mattress covers on all of our mattresses.
Good old SUNLIGHT! See if you can prop the mattress outside for a few hours. Also try febreze for the smell. Or a paste of baking soda and water, allow to sit on the spot for a few hours.
