How to know 19 month is ready for potty training? Trying potty training for the past 1 1/2 months still no result. She will tell "mama Poo poo" when ever she go #1/#2 in the diaper also she almost sit down to go #2 in her diaper. So i thought she is ready. I remind her every 1/2 an hour to go poo poo and undressed her under waist and sat her in the potty seat placed on the regular toilet. She likes to sit on it but gets down immediately when she has to go #1/#2. Is she ready for Potty training? If so how to train her? It might sound crazy but I let her in when i did pee and clapped my hands jumpin up and down when i flushed it. Is this ok to do? Please help me out.

What can I do next?

I think you got a lot of wonderful suggestions in your other post, especially the part about your daughter not being ready.

You can introduce the potty. You take her in the bathroom every 30 minutes. You can have her run around the house half-naked. You can have her sit on the seat. You can let her watch you go potty BUT...until she decides she wants to do it there isn't a whole lot you can do. Pressuring her will only make the process stressful for her and she'll be less likely to try. Controlling the bladder and the bowels is completely up to her, not you.

It's great that you're introducing a lot of concepts to her. When she is ready and actually wants to go (clearly she doesn't want to or isn't ready to since you indicate that she gets off the potty seat when she has to go pee or poo), she will be very familiar with everything she needs to do and where to go.

For now, the best thing you can do is back off and quit pressuring her.

With all my children, I felt for their sake & mine, that it was best to let them lead me instead of me leading them. For example my friend says her 2 kids (who were 2 & 3 at the time) are potty trained but they have accidents in their underwear several times a day. This emabarrases the kids & it took longer for her to get them TOTALLY potty trained than if she just let them go at their own pace. Potty training wont be as difficult if you let your child go at her own pace. Sounds like she is showing some signs but she is still very young & she may get trained soon or it may be another year. Good luck to you & her.

It's still new to her, so she's trying it out but not quite ready yet. I'd say keep encouraging her -- let her know the option to use the potty is there -- but don't pressure her about it. My daughter is 23 months. She goes on the potty sometimes. I've started always taking her into the restroom to change her diaper. I tell her "pee pee and poo poo go in the potty. Do you want to try the potty?" sometimes she does. Sometimes she even pees in it. She doesn't like a dirty diaper, so she always tells me after she goes. Yesterday she pooped in the potty for the first time. She got up and cheered and clapped and called the whole family it to see, so I think she's just starting to get ready. But you never know -- sometimes they start then stop again. It's always 2 steps forward, one step back until they decide they are done with diapers then all the sudden they're just done.

Well, it sounds like maybe she is getting ready. I think letting her know that the potty is there and asking her can help but I wouldn't force her.

at that age I potty train my daycare kids by just sitting them on the potty every time I normally do a diaper change or when they are showing they are going. It takes a while of doing this before they go to undies.

I think each kid is different and you just have to see how it goes. My older son was "ready" for more than a year before he was actually ready. (I thought he was going to potty train young because he went on the potty some of the time, but it turned out it was just a novelty for him - he actually didn't potty train until he decided he was ready for it - one month before his third birthday!)

Books about going to the potty seemed useful for both my kids, but neither of them trained early, so I'm probably not the best example. I'm just writing to say it will happen eventually - just keep doing what you're doing and giving lots of praise and reminders. It's definitely OK to let her see you using the potty - we did the same (with my husband) with both our boys.

(also - love the name Neha! Adorable.)
