How to Make a Toddler Nap?

My daughter is dependent on the bottle to fall asleep for her daytime naps. We will be stopping the bottle altogether soon. Do you have any suggestions how to make her sleep without relying on the bottle?

My daughter was the same way with the bottle for her naps and at bedtime. At 15M, we replaced her morning bottle with a sippy cup. Then one week after, we switched to a sippy cup at nap and then bedtime. Now that she is brushing her teeth at 18M, the last step is to switch from milk to water at bedtime. Good luck.

ND,

Start a routine that includes some downtime activities. Maybe, read a book (our son LOVES Goodnight Moon). Put on some soft music or white noise in her room. Make the room darker than the rest of the house - not totally dark though, it's not bed time. Change her diaper and put some lotion on and give her a little massage.

I guess my suggestion would be to make nap time as cozy and comfortable as possible for her since she will be losing the bottle as a comfort.

Good luck. And, I honestly think that kids will sleep when they're tired and eat when they're hungry.

Start a new routine as you phase out the bottle. My daughter started, about 3 months ago, to want to have "Twinkle" sung to her before she falls asleep at night and for naps. She's 2, so it was an interesting change for us, but as soon as I sing it to her she says "goodnight mommy, sweet dreams" and that's it. If you get her used to something else as part of her routine, she should transition pretty well.
