A 14 month old should be off the bottle for the most part now using sippy cups and finger foods.

I am a large supplier of plastic materials and additives to many industries in the US. NO plastic will last forever with the proper FDA properties not being compromised at some point. EX:multiple uses, dishwasher and handwashing over time will break down the properties causing discoloration, stickiness, etc. You should discontinue use and replace it. Cost wise its not that much $$ and not meant for 24/7 use.

Good luck!

ETA: Good point TF - if the child is over one year? They shouldn't be using a bottle!

Zoey,

You don't. You buy new bottles.

I wouldn't use bleach on a bottle. I'd throw it out and buy new ones.

If I were raising a baby again, I would never use plastic bottles but would instead use glass bottles. Plastic contains harmful chemicals. Baby bottles aren't that expensive, it's time for a new one.

If the plastic has gone yellow - it's not a stain - it's just aged plastic.
There's no un aging plastic.
You can buy new bottles if you want to but at about a year old kids are more into solid foods and sippy cups.

Bleach water. 1 Tblp max. Fill it with water and let it sit. Then wash normally. Be sure to use scrub it out with hot soapy water and use a bottle brush.

Then rinse it well. You should let it air dry or let it go through the dishwasher cycle again. This way the bleach smell should be gone.

I used glass bottles only for my kids when they were babies/toddlers.

Plastics age and discolor. You certainly don't want to be using things like bleach - not that it would work anyway.

Get rid of the bottle. You can get a new one but you should be talking to the pediatrician about weaning her off the bottle at this age anyway.
