Hubby Is Turning 30

I asked friends/relatives to write stories about my husband for his 50th. Then I put them in a book with page protectors so he can review it when he wants.

How about going to a park for a big BBQ? The "little" kids can play on the playground and the "big" kids can have a softball game or a volleyball game. If there is a water source for you at the park, you can buy really inexpensive water guns and have a huge water gun fight.

I recently went to a birthday party that was themed Mexican. They had pinata's and mexican decorations and fajitas. It was really fun...especially the pinata's!! They also did a variety of party style games!! The host said that the items were readily available and cheap! She went to a party store. Of course fajitas are not expensive, and can be a great food option for any event!! Best of luck and Happy birthday!!!

I did a 40th surprise party recently for a friend at the local bowling alley. I decorated the table with a bunch of Nascar items and had a cake made at Fiesta. Everyone paid for their own bowling and drinks and I paid for the pizza. It turned out great and was fun for the kids too.

I agree with making it a surprise. I gave my husband a surprise 40th and it was so fun to plan without him knowing it. Your family and friends will love being in on surprising him too! I think something sports themed or just "Over the hill" (even though he is only 30, if he has a sense of humor) would be fun. Just make it something with people he loves to be around and you can't go wrong.

If you do the over the hill theme, you can encourage people to being gag gifts for him - depends, Just for Men hair dye, a cane, etc. - that is if he will appreciate this type of humor at his expense. Good luck!

You can throw a party for him if he likes that sort of thing. My husband is more a small group person. I had friends and family meet at a resturant were he thought it was just us. He was surprised to see everyone. A game that we played at the resturant was I asked a series of questions. The winner that answered it first got a dollar stratch off lotto card. I spend 20 dollars and had a lot of fun with the 20 questions.

How about a backyard BBQ, and ask a close friend to dress up as a clown since your hubby is a kid at heart! the kids will enjoy the clown also! have the clown act silly or blow up balloons for everyone! Hot dogs, and chips are cheap and simple enough that you can even do the cooking! If you do the clown, you might think about a clown cake, or have them make a young boy cake, with a sports theme on it!Have fun!

You could have a game night with a pot luck dinner.(You could even make it a suprise if you wanted to!) That way you don't have to spend a bunch of money on food. If you like to bake, then make the cake yourself. If not then buy one at the local grocery store or Walmart. I would buy as many decorations as possible at a dollar store. I did this for my daughter's party last week and it was a huge money saver! I hope this helps!

when my hubby turned 30 I bought him 30 flowers 25 black carnations (the florist can spray them black) and 5 red roses. We had been together 5 years at that time so the black carnatons were for the years before he met ME. They looked great, everybody got a good laugh and carnations are so much cheaper than roses.

For my husband's 25th, I threw a party for him with close friends. The hit of the party was the beer can shaped pinata! We blindfolded everyone and then had them take a shot of tequila before being turned around 3 times and then hitting the pinata. You can stuff it with all kinds of creative things like sports-themed party favors. With the Olympics coming up you should find plenty and you can even come up with other games around that theme. Grill some burgers, play sports on the tv, have a great time!

A few years ago, my inlaws through a b-day party, for adults, they reserved a covered area at a park, served brisket and cake and did a savanger hunt. They divided the groups up into 2 couples each and sent them on their way. We had so much fun and we had our kids with us as well. On the savanger hunt, we drove around and for ex. what does the sign say today at such and such church or business (a sign that is changed often), they sent us to the bowling alley and one person from each team had to bowl a game and then get back on the way, we had to go to a grocery store that carried a certain brand (like Wal-mart carries "great value" products) and buy a couple of items, which were donated to the local food pantry. The cost were incurred by the guests, but you could do it where it cost very little. There were prizes for the first team, the last team, etc.

My Hubby turned 30 last year and we invited a few friends to a laser tag place. The one we went to has an arcade, batting cages, bowling, put-put golf, and a concession area. You could buy any individual game or you could buy armbands to do all of it. The armbands were $10 or $12. Everyone bought their own and we went out for pizza afterward. We had so much fun being kids for the day!

What you could do is throw him a surprise party at a restaurant like Fuddruckers or something. That way all of the guests just buy their own meals. You can provide the cake and such...even decorate the area with balloons. If you know some of his friends from work, you could invite them in secret (maybe go through his boss or someone you know there.) It could be a lot of fun for you and the kids to surprise him this way! And inexpensive too! Hope you find something fun to do! You're a good wife! Joyfully, London's mommy.
