I wouldn't be too worried yet. I am 32 wks into my second pregnancy and had the same complaints. My doctor told me the same thing.
Just wondering...I'm 24 weeks into my second pregnancy and I am really surprised at how much bigger I am than my first pregnancy and how sore I am this time around. I feel like an old lady b/c my hips and pelvic bone are always sore! I mentioned this at my last OB appointment and my doc said it's normal and it actually gets worse with each pregnancy. Have those of you who have had two or more children experienced this? Not only am I more sore, but I was comparing pictures from my first pregnancy to this one and I'm about the same size now (at 5 months) as I was at 7 months in my first pregnancy. My weight gain (when compared to my first pregnancy) has been about the same (have gained 12 lbs. so far), but my stomach looks much bigger this time around. I'm afraid I'm going to have a HUGE baby (my first was 6 lbs.)!

I just want to say that I was the same way. Of course you are bigger the second time around more than the first, but the soreness I totally didn't expect. I had 2 boys and the pregnancies were great. No real problems, but with my GIRL I started getting really sore around 3-4mos. I remember getting up from the couch and feeling like my pelvic area was going to fall apart. And I thought the baby is the size of an orange. What is going on? I asked my moms neighbor who has 10 children if carrying the girls were harder on her body than the boys and she had to agree. So my answer to you is that you are having a girl and that is why everything is clicking popping and getting sorer. I think it might be all the extra female hormones. After consulting several people I know with both sexes it was unanimous. Carrying girls is alot harder. So no your not going crazy. It is alot different. But trust me the pink is worth it. Good Luck!!
That's how I was with my second. I gained 10 lbs less but was a lot bigger! The pregnancy was so much harder than my first!! My second son was also larger than my first (but he was also a week overdue). But, my third (our little girl) was much easier! Easy pregnancy and lower weight gain (about 20 lbs less than my first).
going to the chiropractor for regular adjustments and then finding a massage therapist certified in prenatal massage made a world of difference in my last pregnancy
Hi L.
I am 36 and just gave birth to my 2nd baby-boy on 2/3. my 1st was born 4.5 yrs ago. I can attest to what ur ob said. I was sore all the time and i was huge. So have no fear, it does get worse with each.

Our pregnancies sound the same! I am 28 weeks and agree that this pregnancy has progressed quicker than before. But it is normal. Your body has been there and done that once, so the muscles are looser than before, so they are ready to expand quicker than previously. I don't understand the pelvic being sore...I didn't experience that before, but am now! I also have a 29 month old (girl)and am having another girl May 22. I guess all I can offer is that your not alone. Congrats on your girl...they are tons of fun!
We must be twins... lol
I'm going through the exact same thing. I was hoping I had twins. That would have at least explained my exponential growth. The only advice I have is a GOOD chiropractor (not all are good with pregnant women) and I sleep with a heating pad under my hips/lower back and a stack of pillows under my knees every night. It helps me be able to get out of the bed in the morning with out crying out for Jesus.
You might have pubic symphasis separation. It is where the connective tissue that connects each side of the pelvis at the pubic bone shears and comes disconnected. I had it and it was very uncomfortable. What helped was sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees and when I turned over at night I actually sat up to do it. Yes, the bigger you get, the worse it gets, but the good news is that as soon as my son was born that pain was gone and I haven't had it since. He was my first so I don't know what to tell you about the second child other than that all of my friends said they showed earlier and felt worse with their second. I almost forgot to mention that I began going to the chiropractor every week and that helped tremendously. If I could've afforded a massage, that would've been wonderful too. In my old life I'm a LMT, so the massage definitely will help. Try to go to a Certified Prenatal Massage therapist. Any LMT can do prenatal massage, but you really need one with the specialized training. Hope this helps!
its normal dear... i showed sooner with my son than i did with my twins. and my back, hips, pelvic bone, and after a while my pubic bone hurt like heck. pretty much once i started to have a belly(20wks-ish). your body already knows what to do. its just getting ready way in advance. and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. the pool helped for me with my twins but its march so i guess that doesn't help. just think you could have twins sitting on your lungs from 25wks to 37wks. i slept sitting up because i couldn't breathe. so be happy thats what you have. at least its normal.
Totally normal, sweetie. I'm sorry. :) I didn't gain much more my second, but was significantly BIGGER, and my hip hurt so badly it was crippling. The size of your belly is no reflection of how big the baby is, so don't panic. You won't grow a baby you can't birth.
yep ,
It's normal, for me it was like as soon as I was pregnant I was showing for my second. And I gained 30lb fewer than I did the first time and I was still bigger.
Sounds normal. The uterus is kinda like a rubber band. the more times it has been stretched out, the easier it is to stretch it. Therefore, with each preganacy you may look bigger faster because it stretches out more easily. I have seen this with mine, and I've had 4. I definitely noticed more soreness each time, particularly in one hip that gives me problems when I'm pregnant. My first pregnancy I barely noticed it and with each subsequent it has gotten more bothersome. The size of your belly doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the size of your baby. Don't worry there. Ultrasounds are also notoriously bad about determining that. They may tell you and exact weight, but they don't tell you that there is a 2 POUND standard deviation there. So they say you have an 8 pound baby and you may actually have anyhere from a 6-10 pound baby! My 4th was almost 10 pounds and my midwife said she was surprised because I didn't have a huge belly, she wasn't really expecting him to be so big, and my others were all around the 7 pound mark. But they were all weeks early and he was on time. Any-who, just wanted to say you sound quite normal and try not to be worried, size of the baby is pretty difficult to know until they make their way out and you can stick them on a scale!
Have you thought about consulting a good family chiropractor? They can have great benefits any time but especially during pregnancy. Look for a good wellness based chiro. If you're in the Charleston, SC area I recommend Atlantic Coast Family Chiropractic on Trolley Rd in Summerville. The doc is Heather Wyant and she has been my families chiro for the past few years. She has cared for both of my daughters, my 12 year old sister and me through pregnancy.
Hey, L.,
I don't know if this is going to encourage or depress you, but this was exactly my experience with my second pregnancy at 35. People would ask how I was and I would say, "Oh, I'm fine; I just feel like I'm 100 years old!" Don't worry about a huge baby -- everything will be fine. Have fun!
V. (mom of two 5 year olds and one 2 year old)
The same thing happened to me. I much larger and much more uncomfortable the second time around. By the time I was 7 months pregnant I had rather difficult time getting around. I was more tired that with my first, in more pain/discomfort and simply misserable. I found it exhausting to even go to the grocery store by the time I was 7 months with my second. NOTHING like my first pregnancy.
Hang in there!!!
I saw a Chiropractor every week of my pregnancy and I was painless the entire 9 months, one week! I also got a massage about once a month. You will be amazed at how good you can feel!! Give it a try!!
How big you are on the outside doesn't determine how big the baby is going to be. I was asked all the time if I was having twins. I got rather big early on even though I didn't gain very much. My biggest baby was only 8 pounds and 9 ounces and he was my 2nd child! My 5th was born about 5 months ago and he was 6 pounds 4 ounces. I was still asked if I was having twins. Each time I get pregnant...I have been getting big early on even if I only gain around 20 to 25 pounds.
