Humidifier - Abington,PA

I need to get a couple of humidifiers for our bedrooms and need some suggestions. I do not have more than a split second to invest in cleaning a unit, and I've seen ads for ones that don't require much cleaning. Any moms out there have recommendations for humidifiers that work great yet do not build up lime, hard water gunk, or mold? I am looking for a cool mist model. If it is super easy to clean, I don't mind paying more for the benefit. Thanks everyone.

What can I do next?

We have the Germ Guardian humidifier and love it. It has the cool mist feature and we only need to clean it one/week. Well worth the money.

Good luck!

I have two Crane cool mist humidifiers. One is a teardrop shape and the other is for the kids' rooms when they need it in an elephant shape. Check out Amazon.com for them. There are tons of choices in animals if you're looking for a fun one, and there is a video showing how to clean it- super easy! The price was right too- and I've just seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond in three different animal choices (use a coupon!).

If you don't want to have to clean it and scrap build up off then always use distilled water. That's my best advice. Tap water and spring water are still full of all those metals and chemicals.

I never use anything but distilled in my iron either. It only took ruining 1 very expensive iron for me to understand the importance of distilled water for machines.

If it gets nasty you can clean it out with a little bit of bleach in a lot of water, just let it soak and then rinse it very well and let it air dry.

I have the crane humidifier from Target. My daughter picked out the one that looks like a penguin. I love it because it is really nice and quiet. Really really quiet.
