Many many years ago, I went to one of those group hypnosis sessions. It didn't work at all. Back in 2003, my mother had a friend at work whose father started listening to a hypnosis tape for weight loss and he was having really great success with it. The name of the tape is Lose Weight Through Self-Hypnosis by Harold Bloomfield and Vetesse Sirah. I ordered it thru Amazon and I lost 13 pounds effortlessly while listening to it. I listened to side 1 only once and from then on, I only listened to side 2 (I didn't really like side 1) and I had to take 30 minutes out of my day, every day, for several weeks, to listen to it, but the effects were great for me and long lasting. My hunger level went way down, water started tasting really great and I had less cravings for foods that were high calorie and more cravings for vegetables. I was also more motivated to exercise and actually felt guilty when I didn't exercise. Even after I stopped listening to the tape, the effects lasted a long time. I was able to lose an additional 40 pounds on WW as well and it was so weird hearing people at the meetings talk about having to struggle not to eat too much when I found it so easy. I found the best way to listen to the tape was on a walkman with headphones when I knew I wouldn't have any distractions. Also, I had to be sitting up because I would always fall asleep when I layed down. I'm hoping to start using the tape again because I got pregnant in 2004 and gained all my weight back. I hope it works as good this time as it did the last. Just fyi, I also bought Health Journeys: A Meditation to Help You with Weight Loss by Belleruth Naparstek to listen to on CD and Slim Forever for Females: Subliminal Self-Help by Audio Activation to listen to in the car, but I bought these later and didn't listen to them as frequently or regularly so I can't really say if they helped as much or not. The good thing about the CD by Belleruth Naparstek was it was supposed to work even if you did fall asleep so I usually listened to that one when I layed down for bed and the one for the car was nice because it was just subliminal. No talking. Just music and waves and sounds so I wasn't really concentrating on it when I was driving. I guess the most important thing I found wth regard to the hypnosis tape was consistency. If I didn't listen to it almost every day for several (at least 3 or 4) weeks, I didn't get the same effect. I've tried restarting it several times. I am finding it much harder to find that extra 30 minutes now than I did before my last child. Wonder why? ;-) Good luck!
