There I said it! I honestly do not understand why some women in my office buy pants that are clearly too tight on them. More than that they wear tight tops to lift their muffin top to its full glory! The lady that sits close to me actually wouldn't look bad if she had proper fitting clothes. Instead I end up facinated by the way the muffin top jiggles when she walks, it is almost hypnotic.
Does anyone else hate muffin tops?

She is really nice, I just want to take her under the arm and say lets go to the mall so I can make you over. It is a good three inch overlap so we are talking at least a size 8 lusting for a size four.

B, ya know, now that you mentioned it another fad that needs to die are the boys wearing their pants at their knees. In my day we would have pantsed those boys. :p

I have a muffin top and it's not bc I'm attached to a size 4 or can't buy new pants. It's b/c if I buy size bigger, they fall off me. But if I buy my size, they give me rolls. So no win situation.
Hey better than my MIL at 60 wearing mini skirts and bra less. Yuck! No one wants to see saggy ta tas. Oh and one time a sweater that had those small holes you can see though...no bra.
I have the same problem as mommy s...its either buy clothes that are way too big or ones that fit but may not be super flattering. Yes there are some women that do need to buy bigger clothes, I may be fat but I try not to show it off. The ones that bug me are the ones who are wearing clothes that are several sizes too small ( and of course have to wear a belly shirt) and think they look good. And to answer your question...yes I do hate them, and I hate that I sometimes have one. I am working on it but with 2 kids and a full time job its hard.
I think its a combination of problems.
1) may have gained wieght since they were purchased and cant afford to replace it.
2) attached to being a size 4. Sometimes it's a real blow to the ego to have to admit you need to go up a size. But, as long as you can fit your butt int hat same size, hey! I'm still a 4!

A lot of folks wear clothes that THEY like and feel good in. Which looks different for different people. Isn't that the point?
*I* choose certain clothes for myself because I like how I feel in them. I don't get dressed for another person's pleasure, but because I want to like the way I look in those clothes.
I mean, I get having fashion pet peeves...and I have PLENTY of them. But that's mine. If someone feels beautiful in something I aesthetically despise, I salute them.

((Laughing)) Nikki, I hear you. And I have to look at "you" as well. But my tastes are no more or less real/important than another's. Take, for example, one of my pet peeves: beige. I have REALLY big feelings about beige. I love neutrals, and my closet is filled with soft creams, chocolates, blacks and warm grey. You will not find a single beige article in my closet. If I had MY way, no one would wear beige (or pastels), but that's SILLY.
Fortunately, the world doesn't revolve around what *I* like, or don't like. I get to like and choose things for myself. "You" get to do the same. Hopefully, both make us happy and feel beautiful. Personally, muffin tops aren't my jam (and my body type is such that I don't have them without actively trying). But if someone feels pretty in tight clothes, or short clothes, or a burlap sack, or in beige, then they are creating beauty from their standpoint. I don't have to like HOW they look. I do like that they get to make those choices of expression for themselves, and I appreciate the different forms of beauty that are created simply by our individual tastes.
I don't *like* a lot of things and I do like other things. *My* definition and expression of beauty is true for me (and it's always changing), but it's not an absolute truth for everyone.
One last thought: Catering to everyone else's tastes, would (actually) be impossible. There are so many tastes out there, even in a small location. My husband, most of my friends, my mom, and my children all have different tastes. If I go to the mall, I see different trends than if I am at the liberal arts college in town. If I am downtown Olympia, the tastes are different than in Seattle. So who's eyes should I cater to? My own (!) - 'cause not only do I have to LOOK at me, I have to LIVE with me! ;-)

I'm sick of muffin tops, jiggily fat, I'm not interested in seeing ANYONE's belly button (I'll never forgive Britney Spears for this fad that just NEEDS to die off already).
If they want to squeeze into something tight, they should be introduced to something made exactly for this - a GIRDLE.

I don't get it either. I mean, do these women actually have people telling them they look good when they leave the house? I am no skinny minnie, in fact, I'm pretty plump. But I would never dress myself in something that would just accentuate that fact. Not to mention how uncomfortable it is to wear pants that are too tight!
I do too. I don't think people realize that wearing pants that are too small and causes a muffin top makes them look heavier than if they bought a larger size.

Yes, I hate the muffin top esp. when it is mine!!! It's the stinkin' cut of most pants nowadays! I HATE the stupid "below the waist" cut because I can't wear them and most of the women I see shouldn't wear them!! I had twins and with all the extra skin, I can't get away with them unless I wear a shirt that is so loose that I look pregnant. So I shop and shop and shop to find pants/jeans/shorts that have the "on the waist" cut and buy 3 or 4 pair in different colors when I find them.
yep!, my friend will squeeeeeze into the same size pants as me and her belly flops over, i think it looks so bad that i am careful to buy ones that giv way a little so that they will fit.

Funny thing is I'm tall and have a great metabolism so people tell me I'm made for these low rider pants and I hate them too! I think higher waisted look better on almost everyone above the age of 21. I wish designers would read this web posting and start giving women what the majority seem to want. I would say for those moms who say they'd have to buy a bigger size which doesn't look good or don't stay up, it likely looks better to be wearing the bigger size or a belt or a really loose shirt etc.

Ephie, I have to disagree with you- I am the one that has to *look* and YOUR (meaning general 'you') clothing choices.
I swear I do NOT get the attraction of clothes that are 1 or 2 sizes too small (unless you're a teenager sized "0"). To me they are so uncomfortable, not to mention unattractive.

I hate it too. They make low rise jeans of ALL sizes. Why women don't just suck it up and get the larger size. Muffin tops --even on thin women-- make you look even larger than you really are. Grrr!
